Question about Weight Loss and Exercise...

Starting Weight - 270ish / Current Weight - 232 / Height 6' 2"
So I've been doing great - started in November and I've lost around 40 pounds - which has been certainly transformational for a life long overweight person - but I'm curious to know about something I've noticed about areas where I keep fat stored - I'm guessing because I am slimming down all over my skin is becoming more elastic? My body feels more "jiggly" than it did at my peak - is that what that is? Ive dropped 6 pant sizes, 2 shirt sizes, etc. - I can only think of either my skin is no longer being pressured/stretched (a good thing since I can adjust my weight loss as to not go too fast to cause skin flaps) or am I potentially losing muscle (I do mostly cardio but have been doing weight training as well - but lately mostly cardio/sports) ?
Any help will be greatly appreciated!
ps. My first post here, it has been a tremendous journey so far in only 3 months and I still have a lot of focus and hard work to do, but with the help of this place and my own determination, it wont be a problem!

Another site I;m on too keeps telling me to drink lots of water. They said it would help with the body, I'm not sure if it keeps the skin from getting saggy or not. I havent lost enough weight that I have that problem yet. Congrats on the 40 pounds lost, that's awesome!!!0

building some muscle will help, but sometimes our skin loses some elasticity with age. I'm not sure how old you are, but a bit of strength training will help.
Good luck to you!!!0 -
While you may not have "skin flaps" at this point, you've lost enough weight, quickly enough, that the skin hasn't had time to contract yet. It needs time to get smaller. For some people, the skin doesn't and they need to have it removed. If you are doing cardio and weights and eating enough (at least some exercise cals), I don't think you need to worry too much about not having enough muscle to "support" it.0

Skin loses some elasticity for a number of reasons, including age. How your skin behaves after yo lose weight can depend on how much weight you gained, how fast you gained it, how much you lose and how fast you lose it, and whether or not you have a lot of stretch marks. Typically, if yo have stretch marks the skin doesn't really "shrink" back because the tissues underneath have torn. Using a lotion or facial moisturizer that promotes natural collagen production can help with that as more collagen production will help fill in the stretch marks.0

I'm a 25 year old male who hasn't gained a lot of weight quickly - in high school, I was at my peak of around 290, but went down to around 250 since, and in 2010, gained about 20 lbs - so it's been with me for awhile now - I don't have much in the way of stretch marks - I do drink a lot of water - I'd say well over a gallon if not 2 as my only beverage a day. Since I've only been actively eating properly and exercising often for the past 3 months, I imagine some of the body has yet to catch up - nothing so much to worry about, but I was just curious..
Thanks for all of your responses to help shed some light on the subject...

I think you need to up your strength training. Try and build muscles to hold on to your skin. Especially for a guy. As another guy said in a forum the other day, he never suffered loose skin as he built up a ton o muscle to hang it to!!
Less cardio, more body building!! You want to be slim and ripped, not slim and flabby, right?
Also, losing it quickly does not give your skin enough time to adjust. 40lbs is a lot to lose in 3 months. You should be happy with 2lbs per week.
Anyway, definitely increase your muscle training.
Good luck :flowerforyou:0
