How many of you use a food scale to calculate your meat portions? Ive been eyeballing it. Maybe i should invest in one?

Unless I am eating something that I know what the calories are - such as a sandwich or pre-packaged item - I will always weigh my food on a kitchen scale - otherwise you can really go over the top.

I just bought one yesterday and I am so happy I did. I I had no idea what an ounce looked like. I got the Taylor digital scale. I found it at Ross for $16.99

If it's not premeasured or says by the slice or something, then yes I measure my portions if I can't use a measuring cup or measuring spoon. (like a chicken breast, a serving of crackers or berries or something) $20 at Wal-Mart is a great investment on a food scale.

I have this scale and LOVE it...

    http://www.amazon.com/Perfect-Portions-Digital-Nutrition-Display/dp/B003CMYV58/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1296326512&sr=8-1

You could probably get one a little cheaper, but this one is pretty great because you put in a food code and it will tell you exactly how many calories your grapes are, or piece of chicken... no guessing whatsoever!

Or if you just need the weight of something, you can weigh it like a normal scale too.

I use a food scale for everything - cereal, yogurt, fruit, chips! It makes me confident of what I'm putting in my body so I know exactly what I need to burn off in order to lose weight. It's a really good investment. I got mine at Canadian Tire for $12.99!

I love mine too. It helps you see what a portion size really should be. I also found utensils that measure your servings. There are 2 spoons, one for a starch & one for veggies. The spatula is the size of a deck of cards suppose to be close to 3 oz. Measuring has been a key to keeping the calories down. Hope that helps.

I use my scale for all things that wouldnt fit the standards of a measuring spoon/cup...chicken breast, etc. It is WONDERFUL!!! I suggest you get one!!! It really does help :)

    I got this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003PGRC0M/ref=oss_product

Mostly because it was small and easy to store. Works pretty well.

I bought one a couple of weeks ago and it was worth it! I think I was over estimating my potions, it really does put the guestimating to bed. It's nice to have and makes life so much easier.

I have this model http://www.johnlewis.com/184267/Style.aspx (probably got it more cheaply, though). It's flat and always on my kitchen counter. I use it for just about anything, including fruit. It's easy to put a bowl on top, hit "tare" and add one ingredient after the other.
  • I use one! Its a mind blower though.

I love using mine! My husband thinks I'm crazy cuz I weigh so much, but it's the best way to go!
  • I'd never really put much thought into getting one, because I can usually just use a measuring cup, but now I think I want to find a cheap one! It's better than guessing.
