alcohol?

I know there's a lot of calories in alcohol, but does anyone know how that works? Like, is it really caloric because of the extra stuff added to mix drinks, (and obviously beer has the nutritional information on it already). But is hard liquor really caloric too? Like vodka, rum, tequila? I've always been confused about this and my mom (who is starting her own weight loss journey sans MFP) and I were wondering.
Thanks

about 100 calories per shot plus your mixer.0

Yes its calories. Do a search on the type of hard liquor that youre drinking. It's not alot but it still adds up.0

I know captain morgan isn't 100. It's like 60 and i only do diet pop with it.0

its the alcohol itself that contains the calories - the mix doesn't help either hehe -

even w/o being a member..... Weight Watchers can provide you with calorie counts. Also, a free site to live for is Hungrey Girl.com
Liquid is 100 cal per 1 once. Most drinks are 2 oz's and the mixes are the killer. On Hungrey Girl check out the skinny margaretta.0 -
Like anything it varies. Just google what you plan on drinking.0

Distilled spirits, like vodka, gin, whiskey have about 65 calories per ounce. Anything you add to mix them with goes on top of that.0

every alcohol is listed here in our database. some are more than others. Very sweet or sugary alcohol is more caloric than harder alcohols. Rum is 60 calories per ounce.0

 I hear ya! I actually still drink but I know it makes me lose slower than if I didn't.:drinker:0 -
Right on the 60 calories. I dont know where that other person got 100 calories for a shot.0

Stick with (unflavored) Vodka. Tito's is perfect, if you can get it where you live. Rum (especially) and the others have hidden residual sugars, which is why the hangovers are worse.
Use a diet mixer if you need to, but I prefer my vodka straight/rocks or in San Pellegrino + lime.
I've been tracking very closely and having vodka a few times a week hasn't affected my weight loss goals at all.0
