My Dog Needs Your Prayers!

Today, my dogs legs collapsed underneath her. I rushed her to the emergency vet where they had to get her out of my truck with a gurney and I spent 2.5 hours there. She had chest x-rays and bloodwork done.
She is exhibiting signs of vestibular disease. The tests that were performed were normal, but they are concerned that she may have intracranial neoplasia. (a tumor). The only real way to find out is with an $1800 MRI, that we really can't afford. Or she could have any of the following.... hyperadrenocorticism (Cushings disease) or an abnormal thryroid. If she doesn't improve over time, the likelihood is that she has a primary brain disorder.
We were there for 2.5 hours and after getting the x-rays and bloodwork done we decided to see how she was, take care of her for 2 days (until Tuesday, b/c of course this happens on a holiday weekend). When they went to get her, she walked out on her own, just like always! But, we now know something is wrong with her and are so upset b/c it could happen again and I would have to carry a 65 lb. dog outside to go to the bathroom and hold her up to do it. She would no longer be able to climb the stairs to our bedroom to go to bed at night, etc.
PLEASE GIVE HER A SECOND OF YOUR TIME, TO PRAY THAT SHE WILL BE OKAY, OR HAS SOMETHING TREATABLE!
We are crushed to find out she is about 3 years older than we thought and we might lose her 3 years earlier than we have too.
(and today we witnessed a whole family come in with their dog that passed away... horrible, just horrible)

    Your four-legged family member will be in my thoughts and prayers. Our two boys (border collie and mini schnauzer) are our kids, and I can't imagine anything happening to them. My heart goes out to you and your family and I hope and pray it's something treatable and that she'll be ok. They really are family.

    I will keep your dog in my thoughts tonight. I have three dogs myself, but only have custody of two. My oldest dog is 12 and she lives with my parents. This week they are on a cruise and I am watching her. It is so painful to see how much she has aged and how difficult it is for her to get around. I know the day is coming very quickly when I will have to make some tough choices regarding her health. For now though, I just snuggle up next to her and tell her I love her.

    im going to be thinking about you and your doggy jen. Our dog is our baby so i really understand your stress! I am saying prayers right now!

    Hugz baby... we have always had four footed family members (both feline and canine) and they are so loving, and so trusting, that thye always add to our life! Hope all gets better, and the whole family heals up from a disastrous time. Luvya!

    I'm really having a hard time with this.:sad: My:brokenheart: :brokenheart: :brokenheart:
    All my life, growing up, all my animals kind of "disappeared". No, that's not what my parents said, they did just disappear. My cats were outside cats, and just never came home, and the same with my dog. So I never had to deal with their "death".
    I am just trying to be positive. Positive thoughts bring positive results. I hope.:brokenheart:
    keep the prayers coming! I believe in prayer circles.
    My son was in the hospital when he was a baby, and my sister kept a prayer circle for him at her church and I think that it helped!

    Until I moved I worked at an internal medicine vet specialist hospital. We dealt with all the things you just named as possibilities. I can't offer any anwsers, but I know what you are going through. I hope everything works out. If it (horrble!) doesn't try to think about her great life and all the memories you made with her. I know this is hard. If you need a virtual shoulder to cry on I am here! Good luck- my thoughts and prayers are with you guys!:heart:

    I am replying to the lady with the dog who had her legs callapse. I have five dogs and live in the country where they can run and play freely. My Jack Russell(5 yrs old at the time when this happened) was running up and down to the pond with a friends grandson who was on a fourwheeler and they must of been doing it for at least 10-15 minutes, and 86 degrees. All of a sudden Brady came running in the house saying something was wrong with Annie. I ran outside and she was panting and dragging her hind legs. I freaked and picked her up and held her for a short while trying to decide whether to go to the vet or call. Within 15-20 mins. she regained her air and the use of her legs. She is 8 yrs now and it has never happened again. I hope this is what happened with your dog...I think Annie overheated. I have been very careful not to let her get overheated since.
    I hope this is encouraging to you but I will still put you and your dog in my prayers...seriously!

    I know how you feel and what you are going through. My first dog had cancer and tumors and the bills racked up.:cry:

    Animals are definitely a necessity in our life. They add so much richness and ask so little. They are special friends when a silent nudge of a nose speaks to our heart more than any words could.

    My dachshund had similar symptoms a few years ago...she was walking and all of a sudden her back legs collapsed, she could not move them....at the vet's office we found out she had an inflamed spinal disk which compressed her nerves, cutting off the impulse from brain to legs and therefore walking was impossible.
    She was given a cortisone injection and put on oral anti-inflammatories. We had to have X-rays in order to determine this was the cause.

    I pray your dog's symptoms are as easily fixed. :heart:

    Thanks everyone. She's doing great today. (like nothing ever happened?) In response to the above. I wish it was something like that, but she was in the house all day, doing nothing and I think she was trying to get to the patio door for someone to let her out when I heard my boys screaming "MOM, LINZEE'S PEEING ON THE FLOOR!" So, I race in, throw open the patio door and shoe her out and that's when I noticed her stumbling out the door! I panicked, but then calmly got her back inside where she kept trying to be near me and leaning to the left with all legs wobbling underneath her. We hope that it was a freak thing, but we were told by the vet that we should get some more tests to rule out other things. Who knows! Maybe she just had a dizzy spell.
    We got her when we thought she was "2", had her for 5 yeas, now thinking she is 7. The vet told us they think she is more like 10, which could explain why we believe she is going deaf and quite possibly this is "Old Dog Vestibular Disease" which will only worsen. I hope it's nothing. I really do. I can't bear to see her suffer.
