seems like my who life has been based upon the idea of "starting over". here are the ways that i consiously tell myself that everything will change with a new beginning.

- every morning
- every first of the month
- first of the year
- first day of summer
- birthday
- Mondays
- day after a binge

LOL. ok, there is defintely something wrong, but i try to keep looking for ways to make my life a "clean slate".

tomorrow, for instance it the perfect day to start over. it's a monday, and it's the fist of the month, so it looks really good on a calandar and it just feels better to start on a monday the first.

so how often do you startover? what is your rationale for choosing that particular day for a fresh start?

Used to be always on a monday. new week like u said. Then someone told me you know you can start your day over whenever u want. it took me a minute to get it but they are right. If i change my thnking at any point in the day i can start over from that point. works pretty well for me and helps keep me in a positive mindset. have a super day and much success:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: I love these flowers

Here's a little revelation I had a while back. (mind you, I'm still struggling with letting it sink in)

The past is completely unchangeable. Therefore, every moment you're alive is a "new beginning". Everything you do is fresh.

Therefore, there's no such thing as "starting over". . .

I've often beaten myself up for years at a time over past regrets. This accomplishes nothing. No past event is changed, no minds are changed about the way they feel about me (including my own). All that this regret does is waste my time.

You don't need a milestone for a new beginning. They are just there for the taking. In every moment you are fresh and perfect and ready to start. . .

(again, this is easier said than realized. . .but it is helping me):flowerforyou:

I have come to realize we live many different lives, not just one (no I am not into meta-physic!)

At this point I am living the ME life. My kids are grown and my hubby can take care of himself (:noway: well)

I started over 2 months ago when I found MFP and have not had a real issue since that time.

If I go overboard on vacation, or a long weekend, I just get back on the boat asap.

I dont think of it as starting over cuz I didnt gain back the 16 pounds over 1 week.

I do remember every saturday saying I can eat what i want today because Monday i am starting my new diet!

During this journey I started over many times. We all slip up from time to time and “fall off the wagon” …..and I did….we are all only human. I didn’t let the falling off the wagon last for days though. I got a grip on it quickly and did what I knew I had to do.

When I started losing weight and kept losing (including the slip ups) till I got to my goal I started in the middle of the day. I didn’t count what I had already eaten that day….I started counting from the moment I decided OK this is it and I am going to win this battle….and I did win.

I don't officially start over, but rather I just pick up and keep going. I hopefully think about, and learn from my mistakes and make corrections and move forward.

Starting over implies to me that what has happened in the past doesn't count...but unfortunately my body does keep score even when I tell it not to. So the concept of starting over would not work for me because it would in some twisted way make it okay to not eat right...because then I could just start over.

I'm glad the concept of starting over helps you. I think I might abuse the concept. (Okay, I know I would abuse it....often.)

    I totally agree.
You can't "start over," unless you can warp time of something. Yes, tomorrow is a new day but that does not erase yesterday, last week, last month, last year, last ten years.

You can move forward, beyond the now...
Tomorrow don't think of it as, "Starting over....."
Think of it as, "I will get through today...."
Focus on the moment, it may work out better for you. :flowerforyou:
