I was thinking about getting a Oregon Scientific Smart Heart monitor because it looks good and is fairly cheap, I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with it. The reviews are pretty much good on the walmart website but I'd like some to hear from you guys out there about it. Here is the link http://www.walmart.com/ip/Oregon-Scientific-Smart-Heart-Heart-Rate-Monitor-Watch/6051181 I really need to know how big the chest strap is, I don't want to buy it and it not fit right.

First and foremost I applaud your decision to purchase a HRM. I did my first triathlon about 11 years and still where one to this day. They are the single most important piece of fitness equipment you can own.

I am not too familiar with that brand though reading the negative reviews tells a not so good story. The concern i have with an inexpensive monitor is that the algorithms are very inaccurate. No sense owning a piece that gives you bad info.

I prefer a TIMEX (about $70 to $80) on Amazon for their lower end model. I use a Race trainer elite but you do not need that. The problem with the Timex is that the straps are very small.

I would recommend looking at some of the NB products as they seem to have a much bigger strap and they seem to work well.

    Good luck.

I also have been looking for one and Walmart offers a few different kinds. I am also interested in knowing what other people think about this HMR watch.

I have a polar F6 that I bought on amazon and I absolutely love it!
