Morning & Happy Labor Day!
Waiting for hubs to get home then gonna get out there. I better slow down on the coffee though, otherwise it will be a "runner's" run.
TRICIA!!!! How'd your run go yesterday???? :drinker:
Enjoy the day!

Ok....so
Before I took a job in Los Angeles I signed up for a 1/2 marathon. I swore I was going to do it. I was going to run and started training mid January.
Then in august I headed west and the training stopped. For five weeks I did nothing but work 7 day weeks for 18 hr days. I was unhealthy and miserable. My father stepped in because I was beating myself up over the state my life was in. When I got back I found a six week training schedule and decided I was going to run the 1/2. I wanted to do it!
so...
Yesterday, I was supposed to run 90 minutes. I ran 10 miles! I ran from my house in wrigleyville to navy pier and home again.
So Im back and better than ever.
Happy labor day.0 -
10 miles is great gonezobean!!! :drinker: When is your 1/2?0

Wow, great run Gonezo...
'I only did my 5.4 but it was a good run. I wish I got up a little earlier because I felt like I could have run more, but then it got super hot and the sun was just melting me down. So I figured I would take the 5.4 miles and be happy about it today. I stepped up my tempo just a bit from Saturday, but nothing to brag about, 12.14 minutes per mile.
Boy last week I was making it at like 11.30 per, I don't know what happened. I thought I would get faster not slower. But I am keeping up the miles again and usually adding to it each week again. That one time I ran the 8 miles (a month ago) really kicked my butt and really made me not as able. I jumped into it too soon. I am happy to keep a slower pace and just run. Good lesson to not jump into it if you are not really ready!

Good Morning my running pals!
It is rest day for me today....slept until 845! I do not think I have done that in YEARS!!!
Only 6 days until the 1/2!
Happy running and resting.... AND HAPPY LABOR (day off from work!!) DAY

I went through the same thing SM, but after my two-week hiatus I feel a lot stronger/faster. Maybe the bike riding in between helped my speed.
7-miles this morning! :drinker: Time to eat! :bigsmile:0 -
Happy Labor Day Everyone!!
Hope everyone is enjoying their much needed day of rest from 'laboring'!
I am off to a BBQ at the neighbors!
SM - slow and steady. don't push yourself, listen to your body and you will see improvement with time.
My race was great yesterday - so neat to be a part of something as big as an international race. I did a 10K in 48'44" . Worst part was they made us run almost the same course as the 10miler last weekend, which includes a big bridge that has a killer incline! :grumble: So my butt had just recovered from running over it twice last weekend, it was screaming at me this weekend. I think I have a permanant muscle twitch in my butt called the Naval Academy Bridge!
Gonezobean - let us know how we can support you in your training for your 1/2! I am also training for one in six weeks, so I will be right there with you!0 -
Spin class was cancelled -- interval training on the bike instead :grumble: .
Tomorrow run day! Yay.0 -

Such a good run, Yeah for you! :drinker: :drinker: :drinker:
Thanks for the tip on biking. I have actually taken a couple weeks off biking and keep thinking I need to get back on it. Now that you mention it, I think I was running faster when I was riding around a couple times a week. I just ride a beach cruzer, with I think 7 speeds and it is pink!!! Love it!0 -

thanks!! there isn't an official page for the one I did because it was a local running club that sponsored it. Nike didn't hold the organized run around here - closest one was NYC. I am going to download my pics now though and add them to my profile.
here is a pic of the pre-race with my running group from last week's race - I am the short one on left in the blue visor wearing #4716!!

Great job, runners!!
I did an 8 mile bike, and 3.7 mile run this morning. My buddies have their Half IronMan this weekend, so it's kind of a taper for them! So I'm just joining them for some shorter bike/ runs this week.
Have a great holiday, we had a family reunion y'day and are having some family here today!

Hey runners:
No run for me today, recovering from y'days wedding where I danced all night in 4inch heels YIKES! Needless to say, did a number on my sore foot, could barely put pressure on this morning!
Shannon: It was my neice's wedding. And tomorrow is a party for her sister who is getting married in October. On Thursday, I have my hubby's cousing wedding, then On Sunday, a friend's daughters wedding. Now I have to figure out which shoes to wear so as not to do more damage! Or myabe not dance??!! PS: Glad to know you are back in the 'run' of things!
Great runs everyone. Conrats PMKelly on the nike 10k. Would have like to do it but the wedding sort of got in the way.

GREAT JOB!!!!!! :drinker: :drinker: :drinker:0 -
I did it! I walked my first 5K in an official Labor Day Race! It was so fun. I got a number and a t0shirt and everything. I have already signed up for the ten weeks to a 10K class which I will either walk or run or a combination thereof depending on the knee!
Wow that was fun! Now I know what you all are talking about!
Have a great Labor day!
