Anybody ever have these? I'm watching the Hungry Girl show and she made some (40 calories in the whole bag! :) and then made an "alfredo" sauce with a Laughing Cow cheese wedge and some fat free sour cream. About 100 calories for the bowl. I'm guessing that they're probably a little pricey though.

  • I've had them, and they don't taste particularly good or bad, really... but they smell horrendous... if you can get past the smell and eat a great deal of sauce, I'm sure they would be fine. Good luck!

I watched that same show! I'm highly interested in getting some. I'm asian anyway and I'm sure I've smelled worse haha :).

I've seen some articles/ items about volumetrics and I'm interested in learning more. That seems to be her thing..she's doing volumetrics. I have only JUST started counting my calories as of this week, my first week of trying to figure out how to lose weight, ever..and I'm very hungry. In fact it's 9:30 right now and I could eat a whole meal :(.

So I need to figure out how to get to bed time w/out starving.

I have seen them and have cooked with them, minimally, and they are OK. I wouldn't make the switch just to save the calories. Personally, I would rather have less noodles that taste better! They aren't too pricey!

They are about $3/bag at my grocery store. You do need to rinse them before warming or they will smell funny. They taste like whatever sauce you add to them, but are chewier than regular noodles. I like them though because, I admit, I eat the whole bag.

I've done the laughing cow with fresh minced garlic, cherry tomatoes & shrimp.

I also like to sautee vegetables (no oil, just on a hot skillet, like fajita style) and add them to the noodles. Then you can dress them up with any sauce: soy, salsa, "alfredo", FF italian dressing, marinara, black beans w/ cumin, lots of possibilities.

But your theory is correct, you will not pay 99 cents for thecontainer like you do the generic white angel hair...

OK, I use Miracle Noodles - like the other gal said, drain them and rinse them (They smell like nasty fish) and blanch them in boiling water for about amnute and they then have the consistancy of ramen noodles (I buy the Angel Hair kind)
The Miracle Noodles are AMAZING - no flavor, ZERO cals, ZERO carbs - I eat 2 packages with a half cup to cup of Classico basil tomato sauce - 50 cal total for a VERY FILLING VERY GOOD meal.
I order on Amazon.com in bulk and its not to bad.
I have also prepared them with shrimp, olive oil, vinager, lemon juice, salt, pepper and its a really good shrimp scampi.

    Enjoy!

Volumetrics...is that like adding spaghetti squash to your angel hair? Hungry Girl had some very interesting ones...like cucumber in your fruit salad with a dressing made with orange juice or every other layer of your lasagna with egplant instead of the noodles.

Here's a good starter article about Volumetrics:

    http://www.webmd.com/diet/volumetrics-what-it-is

The basic premise is, we are hungry, therefore if we feel sated/full, we will not be tempted to eat things like oohhh croissants and chocolate and donuts! HAHA- you integrate low calorie roughage into your meals to 'fluff' it up without adding tons of calories. And yes, in that episode she added cucumbers to that fruit salad- she reduced the overall calories by adding that filler so you can eat a more satisfying serving size.

I think I'm going to be using this a lot since ...it's now almost 10 PM..and I'm hungry. HUNGRY. I am breastfeeding my son exclusively and add on workouts and I'm one hungry woman. Do not get between me and the food or suffer the consequences. In fact- if you are between me and the food you are surviving by the sheer grace of me having subscribed to MFP!!!!!
