Ive been on this site for awhile and was doing so good in the begininng. Then May last year I was attacked on my job and went through a depression. Now its a start of a new year and Im ready... I refuse to turn 40 (shh dont tell.. lo)l this year being overweight. So I guess my question is how do you stay motivated and say noooo to those dirty little food items . Im motivated at the momentt but to keep it up and not to say Ill exercise tomorrow instead of today... I started a gym because trying to do it at home has not worked. Im geting my entire family into eating healthy and working out... so anything that has helped you?

I think most of us make the same excuses about the gym. I have found out that the hardest part about the gym is getting their. You just need to give yourself that extra push and you will be so proud of yourself later! The gym is what keeps me motivated. When i stop going to the gym I seem to stop eating well. Push yourself! Its worth it in the end!!0

About the exercising bit .. i don't think about it at all during the day. i get up in the morning and tell myself " I HAVE NO CHOICE.. I HAVE TO GO TO THE GYM BECAUSE I HAVE GOALS TO ADHERE TO." i don't give myself time to argue with me .
also if you small goals you stay motivated to work the off
promise yourself a window shopping trip right after gym
and staying away from the munchies = the best is to first eat the good food ..and if you still crave for them ( the bad food i mean) have a bite .if you feel like having the entire bar, it means you haven't fed yourself nutrition
keep small rewards for every goal you achieve
these are the few things i have done in the past and got good result
oh and i still do the same

For me it is really all about self-discipline.. I'm slowly but steadily re-training myself. Walk right by the soda section, walk right by the pastry section, (don't even LOOK in their direction).. Head for the fresh food section and stay there. No wandering. Set up an appointment on you calander for your workouts, just like you would set for your dentist appts, meetings at works, etc. Then keep the appointments, or look at is like a class you must attend 4 days a week. Be on time, stay there a set amount of time... It seems silly at first, like you are tricking yourself, but sometimes that's what it takes..
Good luck!0 -
I just have to get to the gym. When I'm there there's nothing else to do but workout. When I'm out to eat I glance around. What are the healthy looking people eating, what are the not so healthy ones eating.
I guess you can either go positive or negative reinforcement. Positive Your trying to reach a goal look Jessica Biel, or negative Your trying not to look like someone.0 -
