Artificial sweeteners?

I'm thinking about buying some, because I'm watching how much sugar I'm adding, so I can have a sweet tea. Tea helps me drink all the water that I need, plus it's an antioxidant.

So is there anything good or bad about them?

A few packets of splenda a day won't hurt you! Just be careful about sugar free baked goods and candy. I use splenda in my coffee every morning

I like Splenda, but more peeps on this site like Truvia. Next time ur at a restaurant, use the blue, pink, or yellow(splenda) packets...see which one u like more, then buy it. That's what I did!

I avoid the artifical sweeteners (blue, pink and yellow packets) basically anything that contains sucarlose, aspartame, and saccharin. Also avoid, high fructose corn syrup and agave nectar. Anything that makes it tastes likes sugar is chemically processed, like diet soda. I rather avoid the nutrasweet, & splenda items...they make you crave more sugar after you have something with it.

Alternative sweeteners best for you would be stevia and xylitol - they are categorized as nutrional supplements, but use them sparingly, too. Stevia is an herb, does not cause blood spikes and can be used in baking. Xylitol is a sugar alcohol derived from the fiber of fruits and veggies.

Truvia, pure via and stevia in the raw are great ones to use.

Stevia-based products are supposed to be better for you than Splenda or some of those others. I use Simple Sweet. It is pretty good. I don't use it often because I don't like sweet drinks, but I do put it in my cereal some.

Artificial sweeteners don't trigger the "reward response" in your brain, which can cause caloric intake confusion. You mentally still crave sugar, and you can overeat trying to satisfy that need.

Stevia is the best choice. Splenda and other artificial sweeteners still contain SUGAR (just not as much)

    Stevia is all natural :)

Please please please don't use splenda or products that have aspertame in them!

Stevia is the best if you're looking for sweetener with no cals or carbs or anything except taste.

If you have some wiggle room with your sugars, carbs and calories try Agave or raw honey :)

Perfect compliment to my answer! She is very right about using Aspartame. Artificial sweeteners ARE NOT all created equal!
