New start...

I Joined MFP at the start of the year because I thought it would help me if I kept a food diary. However a month in and I know I have tended to cheat a bit with the diary in that I'd "forget" to add a biscuit or choose a smaller portion size than I've actually eaten. I've not logged in for the last week of January because I'm embarrased myself to complete the diary when I have overeaten. I do find it incredibly difficult to say no. When your partner says do you fancy a bit of cake, rather than say no, I enjoy it and don't even think about the calories until I sit down at a computer to type this up!. So far this year I've set myself an excercise goal of half hour per day, so far this year I've done absolutely nothing! Today sees the start of another month and I know I need to lose weight, my clothes are all too tight, I weigh more than I ever have done in my life and I'm now 41 and the longer I leave it the harder its gonna get and the more I'm gonna have to shift. My kids now joke about my size, and that hurts even though I know they mean no harm. Today I start again, I'm gonna try to be honest with the diary and recognize when I'm overdoing it. I gonna try and do some form of exercise, I'm gonna try and not be writing this all over again on March 1st. I think I need help and encouragement as I don't think I'm gonna be able to do it all by myself. I don't have any of my own friends on here, so am probably gonna need the support. Wish me luck.

Everyone needs a new start!
I use the diary more as an awareness tool......It really does begin to make sense about the calories ate and the exercise done- How it adds up - or doesn't.......I used to think....Omg, I'm working so hard and nothings happening!!!! Oh....and I guess my 3 days of not working out and my 2 days of overeating did cancel out any progress I was trying to make.
You can also make your diary private - If your too embarrassed, or feel your being judged. However, in saying that, I don't think MFP's are "judging" each other. We are here for support. We all have one thing in common....and that's to have a healthier lifestyle!
Good luck!0 -
You can do it!!!! This is my 2nd time starting this. I had the same trouble as you the 1st time. I would "forget" to log certain foods or I was embaressed. But what I have learned is that you need to log every morsel. That way you can see in black ad white where you went wrong. Also, everyone deserves a cheat day here and there or be able to eat some of the yummy stuff. I learned it is all about moderation. Good luck!0
