I am confused about when I should eat when it comes to exercise. Can someone please advise me. Is it better to eat before or after a workout? I've heard that you should eat within 15 minutes after a workout.

If you are talking about strength training, it's good to get in some protein after your workout. Try to have a meal or snack atleast 2 hours prior to a workout to give your body some fuel for that workout.0

I always eat within an hour before workin out then right after workin out I drink a protein shake then with 30 minutes after that I eat a small meal high in protein.0

eat 6 times a day about 2-3 hours between meals :] will speed up your metabolism, and make you always feel full
and yes, directly after a workout have some carbs/protien. doesnt have to be much, just feed the muscles! and carbs for a faster recovery0 -
Ive done a lot of reading on this subject. From what I read; you should intake complex carbs (like wheat bread) and some protein at around 30 min prior to workout and simple carbs (anything made from white flour or potatos), some sugar and protein no later than 1 hour after workout.
What i said may not be exact (im no expert), but i do know timing and proper nutrients, before and after your workout, is key to gain the maximum benefits.
I would do a google search on pre-workout nutrition and post-workout nutrition.
good luck!0 -
I do strength training and cardio when I work out. I make sure to eat about an hour before I exercise (good mix of carbs and protein) and I have a smoothie with protein powder after so my muscles get the protein they need to recover faster.0

I floow the same as most people above.. I eat 30-60 mins before a workout and within 30mins after a workout.
I went through a week or so when i left it later to eat after a workout but still within 3 hours of eating last.. but i was then starving for the day!!! so it doesnt pay!!
Before for fuel to workout.. and after to re-fuel.. good luck!!0 -
It depends what type of training you're doing. If you're trying to burn fat, exercise in the morning after getting up and don't eat breakfast before you do so. eat after your workout. If you're trying to maintain your weight, and say you're a distance runner, it's good to eat a light breakfast before a run, such as half a grapefruit and an english muffin with peanut butter, and then have something a little bigger afterwards as well to replace what you burned off. There is no specific plan that is better than another. It all depends on the type of workout you practice.0
