Hi guys.

Can anyone offer me some explanations for my disappointing weigh in this week.

Week 1 - 6lbs off
Week 2 - 4lbs off
Week 3 - 3.5lbs off

Week 4 - 1/2lb off

I haven't changed anything this week. 3 Gym sessions. 1 Body Combat Class. 1 45min swim. Only snacks i've had is fruit and still monitoring my carb intake. Consuming about 1300calories a day.

I'm obviously still pleased that it's going down. But with 8-9lbs more to lose, I was aiming for 2lbs a week.

Can anyone help me with advice?

Thanks

Are you doing the same workout as you started with in week 1? If so your body is getting use to doing that same routine and needs a change up, to confuse it.

Bodies are a mystery thing. Don't let this get you down...In the beginnin' you'll lose fast...than you hit a plateau. Like the others says maybe change up your exercises, how is the sodium intake? You drinkin' your 8 glasses of water per day...Just remember it's not a race to see who can achieve their weight goal the fastest. As long as your eatin' properly etc. It will come to you when you least expected...stay strong :)

It is normal for weight loss to taper off. I tried to look at your food log but it is not public. Are you eating enough calories and drinking enough water? You said you are eating 1300 is that net?

The other thing is as you get closer to your weight the slower it comes off.

You were aiming for 2lbs a week you are at 3.5 lbs a week so far. You are currently ahead of the game. Don't let it get to you.
  • Yes, good advice above, switch up your workouts, one of the best things you can do.

Additionally, we all can plateau at different points for no obvious reason, keep working at it :)

2lbs a week is a lot to try to lose if you are only a little over your target weight.

I've been similar to yourself, though not quite as dramatic - 2.5lb, 1.25lb, 0.75lb then this week 0.5lb. My target is 1lb per week, 14lb overall. I'm hoping that by losing steadily and exercising it will stay off. Maybe you aren't eating enough given your level of exercise (loads of threads about that on here).

Have you also been looking at your inches though? I've definitley noticed I'm toning up and lost 1.5 inch round the waist.

Your initial weight loss maybe due to water weight. You always seem to lose the most in the first couple of weeks. Also make sure that your NET calories (total - exercise) are 1300. You have to make sure your body is receiving the proper fuel and nutrition that it needs.

Also keep in mind water weight issues, i.e TOM, sodium levels in food, etc. If you are strength training, sore muscles retain water. Just make sure you are drinking at least 8 glasses a day.

Remember its not all about the scale. Invest in measuring tape. Assest how your clothes are fitting. I've only lost 9 lbs but I've also lost 3 inches off my waist in the same span of time and plenty of inches else where.

Don't get discouraged. Trust me I've been super frustrated at times when I don't lose the weight I want, but I just have to keep in mind that I'm eating healthier foods and challenging my body through exercise. The weight will come off trust me. Good luck to you.
  • Thanks guys!!

My clothes are fitting better - some are too loose. Measured myself 4 weeks ago - with my mums tape measure so will head over there tomorrow night and measure again.

Possibly not been eating enough. I had 5 hours cricket training on sunday and not a whole lot to eat.

Think i'm expecting too much as well after such a great start.
