I am 147 and want to lose 22 pounds. So far I have only lost 1 pound in about 2 weeks. It doesn't seem to be coming off very fast. Is there anyone who has lost this amount of weight at this starting point that would like to share how long it took to lose? Also your average weightloss per week. I just really don't know what to expect in terms of how much I should be losing per week.

I am 5'4" and currently weigh 155. I have lost 5 pounds in three weeks. The difficult thing is, it is not suppose to fast. One or two pounds a week is healthy. This isn't a diet but a long term change in the way you eat. For me logging in my food helps me see just what I am eating. My motivation is that even at this rate I should be in the 130's by bathing suit season. Age is also a factor. The older you are the slower it tends to come off. I'm 47 so my metabolism has slowed down a bit. Just keep doing what you're doing and it will continue to go in the right direction! Add me as a friend and we can give each other support if you'd like.0

I'm 5'5 and my starting weight was 153 and my goal weight is around 125-130. I've been tracking for about a week and a half now and have already lost 5 pounds. I stick to my calorie intake and rarely go over my alotted calories for the day (though sometimes I fall below 1200, which isn't recommended but it sometimes happens and doesn't leave me starving) and I also exercise about 30-60 mins a day for 3-4 days per week. I try to switch up my routine since I tend to get bored. I do the treadmill one day, kickboxing another (which is my favorite and burns the most calories. 10 Minute Solutions Special K workout DVD is my favorite), cardio at least twice a week (for this I tend to lean toward Jillian Michaels DVDs as I feel she packs the most into her somewhat shorter workouts). Hope this helps!0

Hello I'm new to this just found site yesterday - I'm 5'2'' and 140lbs - It took a while to put this weight on so its going to take a while to take it off! I thought that I was eating only a little too much each day but I think that I am eating way too much as I am really hungry and I've ate all my calories already! how are you doing?

Im 5 ft 3 inch and started off at 154 lbs in nov and im down to 146 as of today , i lose a average of a lb a week but havent lost any in 2 weeks but i have lost inches 13 1/2 so far. on average you dont want to lose to much to fast, so a pound a week is good, hope that helps I know its not 22 lbs lost but just wanted to give my input :happy:0

I'm an inch shorter than you and the same weight, and it's coming off slowly. I've already lost 11 lbs since November to get here, but things are going more slowly now that I'm closer to my goal weight.
As was said above, 1 lb or so per week is a normal rate, so don't get discouraged. Just keep a close eye on what you're eating and get as much exercise as you can and you'll get there!0 -
I'm 5'3" and though I started up near 175, I recently hit the 140's.
For me the biggest difference has been getting enough calories. When I hit 149, MFP asked if I wanted to reset my goals so I did. Staying at 1lb a week as a goal had me on 1220 calories a day- which I tried, but then quickly hit a plateau. So I went in and manually set my goal as .8lbs per week, giving me 1350 cals and my plateau broke. Ever since I have gone back to a pretty steady 1lb a week.
Being generally in the range of healthy weight, you should expect to lose weight slowly- don't try to push by cutting your cals as much as possible. Instead, focus on dietary goals like getting your fruits and veggie servings in, cutting down on over processed foods, maintaining a modest calorie deficit (300-400 instead of 500).
If you make your diary public (or friend me so I can see it) I can make more specific recommendations/assessment.0 -

Im the same height and My SW was is a little higher then yours, but my goal is to get to 125! I have only been on MFP for around 11days. I lost 3 lbs in the first week then gained two of them back, but was continuing to do everything the same as I was the 1st week, was told It was prob just water weight. However every ones bodies are different in how they will shred the pounds. Are you doing workouts with this (currently I am not, going to start P90x) Or are you eating the same foods consistently? What did you set your goal as per week to loose? You will do it! My goal is to loose 40lbs by Sept!!!! We can do it!!! Just keep up the good work and pounds will shred!!!0

I'm 5'5" and now weigh 145.2 (started in the beginning of January at 156). We have a similar end goal, so we're likely on the right track! I had plateaued for a week or so early last week (stuck at 146.8) and I changed my goal to one pound per week (was 1.5 per week and I think that was too ambitious). So I got to consume more calories (1340 and I eat enough of my exercise calories that I stay around 1300-1400 (because of my weight, my workouts are only around 200 calories per day). And I've lost a lb over this past week, so I'm hoping the plateau is over.
I do a lot of different types of working out -- try for walking half hour per day, I Zumba on the Wii, do Active 2 four times a week and I'm looking for other types (will do some weight training in a month or so when it's not too cold to go to the gym). My body has NO IDEA what I'm going to throw at it in any given day!!
Anyone with similar goals/starting point, please add me as a friend! :flowerforyou:0 -

That's funny because I thought I was 5'4" almost my whole life until I had a physical last year and found out I was 5'3" (unless I'm shrinking ).
I started out at 158 in Sept. 2010 but didn't get serious until Oct. 2010. I started MFP Jan. 3, 2011 at 153 and now I'm 146.8, so I'm having a steady weight loss so far. I am shooting for a 7+ lb loss per month to keep myself focused. I actually got down to 140 from 152 in 2009 in 4 months. Right now I'm losing on average 1-2 lbs a week.0 -
I have almost the exact same body type as you... I'm at 5'3" and weigh about 145. I started at 155 back in September, and it's now February and I've only lost 10 lbs. I know I don't follow a diet as well as I should because I have a major sweet tooth, but I've definitely gotten better and have noticed a change.
I think at our weight and height, we are only gonna be able to lose about a pound a week (if we are doing this the healthy way). But measure yourself! I've lost 5 inches around my waist and I can tell in my jeans.
I also hope to get down to 125 by this summer! Good luck!!0 -
im 5'3 and a year ago i weighed in at 155lb, today i weigh 128lb. it can be done!!!!
my motto is "everything in moderation!"
i just made some simple changes to the way i eat, and portion control is the key! this site is amazing for that.0
