Green Tea

What exactly does green tea do for those trying to lose weight? I've been drinking 3 cups a day and while I do feel more energetic, I was wondering if it will help me out in ways I haven't realised yet.

I have heard the same thing-that it speeds weight loss, not sure though if it really does-I did do Herbal Magic though a few years back and one of the main capsules you take did have green tea in it, so maybe it really does...0

Green Tea if bought whole rather than in tea bags is great for boosting metabolism. Try and drink a liter a Day but do not add sugar or sweetner drink with Lemon!!0

If nothing else, it gives one a good excuse to drink lots of water--with a tea bag in it!0

I'm not sure about green tea making you lose weight, but it does have a cleansing effect on the body and is full of antioxidants. You should want to drink it for its other health benefits...lowers cholesterol, regulates blood sugar, soothes stomach and digestive system, boosts your immune system, and can help prevent growth of certain cancers. Try to brew your own from whole leaves instead of buying the kind already brewed or using the little tea packets. If you're not into the flavor, there are many kinds that are blended with fruits and other teas that have a softer flavor. It's great for you and the caffeine content is quite low, which is a plus. Hope this helps!0

That's pretty interesting... Thanks guys! I'll drink as much as I can, hehe, and yeah, no sugar! Sugar in green tea is a no-no!0 -

If you like Whole teas also Mocha is good 1/2 to 1 teaspoon a day is incredible it the whole leaf of green tea ground! it is really beneficial, doesn't taste so great so if you cant drink it as a tea, mix in a smoothie as you will not taste it. It boost the metabolism also!!0

Nothing really. The chemical that is responsible for green tea claims has very poor bio availability and their just isn't enough of the chemical. The antioxidant benefit is much more relevant. If I can track down the article about it, I'll post in a new topic.
Instead of brewing your tea, put the leaves in a coffee or spice grinder. Grind to powder.
Sprinkle tea leaves in salads and use as part of your spice mixes. Very versatile0 -
Green Tea with Lemon grass yummmmm. I make a pitcher of it like ice tea and drink it all day long.0

Now why didn't I think of throwing my lemon grass in with green tea. Thank you, that's a great idea.0 -
Does anybody know? If you drink green tea and lose weight, does the weight go back on when you stop drinking it?0

i don't think that will happen, the effects of green tea on the body are very subtle.0
