Just had a yummy sashimi lunch, but the calories add up so quickly!!! Is it accurate to say that each piece is about 50 calories?

I actually just had sashimi today and calculated my calories!

    Salmon - 50gram (appx 4 pieces) = 88kcal
    Yellowtail - 58gram (appx 5 pieces) = 84kcal
    Mackerel - 50gram ( appx 5 pieces) = 94kcal
    Tamago (egg) - 50gram (4 bite chunks = 90kcal

That's all I got but I hope it gives you an idea...

Sorry...sashimi doesn't have rice, that would be Nigiri. Sashimi is just slices of seafood, it could be any seafood: Prawns, squid, octopus, all sorts of fish!

It is the healthiest selection of Japanese food because you're not overloading on the white rice. Nigiri is always fish on rice and after about 4 - 5 pieces, you could be eating an equivalent of 1 cup of rice! I'm not exaggerating...my family owns a Japanese restaurant...

You also have to careful with soy sauce. The traditional way of eating sashimi is a very light dip on the soy, sometimes it's almost just a drop. You never dip the entire piece in because that would overpower the fish too much.

    Hope this helps!

Thanks, that actually is helpful. I just wasn't sure cause when i looked it up on this site, some said about 50 calories for each piece and that seemed a little high.
And yes, sashimi = NO RICE :)
