My new motivation - Disneyland 5K !

I've been feeling pretty down in the dumps lately. I hurt my ankle to weekend before last and I've been totally off my feet since then except when absolutely needed. So I haven't done any cardio or working out, meaning I've had to drop my calories back to non-exercise calorie numbers and it's being really getting to me. I also keep wanting to try to push myself and get back to the treadmill faster than I should and have been seriously moody about my ankle taking too long to heal. I've very nearly posted a frustrated rant on here a half a dozen times over the last few days, just to get it out of my system. :P
But today, a friend contacted me and asked me if I wanted to do the Disneyland 5K with her. I'd already been looking around for 5Ks in my area since I was progressing pretty well on my running and liked the idea of the goal. So the marriage of Disneyland and a 5K seemed perfect. I instantly said yes and have been super stoked about it all day.
And oddly enough, it's motivated me to...lay on my *kitten*. lol Yes, it's actually lifted my spirits about having to lay around alternating ice and heat on my ankle with it elevated pretty much every second I'm home and keeping it well braced and supported while at work. Instead of wanting to sneak down to the apartment fitness center and see how I could do, I now want to make sure that it heals as fully and completely as possible before I get back on the treadmill so I don't do anything that will keep me from the run.
It's still annoying to be stuck back at 1200 calories again since I'm basically a lump right now, but I'm coping and it's been sorta fun going back to being more creative about how to keep my calories low like I was in the beginning. But overall I'm now super excited to be signed up for a 5K, to have a goal to work towards and have it be in Disneyland with one of my best friends. It's gonna be awesome!

can't help you with any tips as I'm not a runner, but my hubby and his friends will be running in the 13k while the kids and I are playing in the park! Good luck!0
