Nopalina. I just was told about nopalina when I mentioned that I wanted to incorporate a low caloric supplement to my diet high in fiber. When I started to read about it I was like, how didn't I know about this before? So, here I'm sharing this with those of you who didn't know about nopalina. Maybe is something you'd like to add to your diet as well.

It has more calories, 2x fiber and 2x fat. It compares nutritionally to 2 tbsp of regular flax.

  • Chia seed is really good too. I put it in all sorts of stuff... salads, yogurt, oatmeal, etc. See: http://blog.thrivefoods.net/2009/07/chia-seeds-top-10-benefits.html

Oh yeah I had heard about Chia. Actually I heard about if for the first time when I got the Shakeology cause it is part of the ingredients. I'd like to find out where do they sell the seeds around here were I live, it is always good to add extra ones (besides the content in shakeology) to my diet :)

Thanks so much for the link, very useful :)

I get mine from a local mom & pop health food store but I know both Whole Foods and GNC sell it. It shouldn't be too difficult for you to find.

I have about 1 pound of chia seeds sitting on my shelf and I have no idea what to do with them. I tried blending them in my protein shake and ended up with a mouthful of chia seeds. Then I tried just swallowing a whole tablespoonful...not good. Plus if you chew them, you will be picking them out of your teeth like Dots.
....and I have an irrational fear I will start to grow grass if i constantly eat them.

I add them to my yogurt or oatmeal. They blend right in; you don't even notice them.

Sounds like you're adding too many to start. Try adding just a teaspoon (or 1/2 if that's too much) and working your way up to a tablespoon or two. I have to do this with anything new - otherwise I end up noticing it too much and it sits on my shelf.
