My husband just left for basic training for the army. I want to lose 3 pounds a week for 9 weeks! Ok not need I have to! But here's my problem I don't know how to and of course I am broke :( I am a member of the gym but my one year old freaks out and for the past week I got paged after 10 minutes so until he settles with daddy being gone the gym isn't going to cut off 3 pounds a week. Additional dieting I have no clue where to start and I don't have time to test stuff so if anyone has advice please let me know. I did the obvious cut out all sodas its only water and no sweets. As far as doing stuff at home like said we are pretty broke. But I did do the jillian Michaels 30 day shred from the exercise tv on demand but I doubt those little programs will do 3 pounds a week. Ugh I know I'm looking for a miracle but I really need this and my pain in the butt child is messing up my motivation :(

  • Put baby in the stroller and WALK WALK WALK!!! Drink LOTS of water and portion control!
  • 1) how much do you weigh? how old are you?
    2) take the baby and go for a RUN. Also, hold her/him as much as possible to build strength
    3) My gym has a babysitting area, maybe look for gyms in your area that have one also
    4) She/he is just a child! Though losing weight is important, it's not as important as your child!

    Good luck
3 pounds a week is verrrry unrealistic though, but I have faith in you!

3 lbs per week isn't realistic. Weight loss is 80% diet and 20% exercise.

Keep your calories in line, do some cardio 3-4 times a week and be patient  Also remember if you don't have a lot to lose, it will take longer than someone who is significantly overweight.

ditto this! The baby will like it and you'll still get your workout in...

My husband just left for basci training January 18th. I'm trying to lose 15 pounds by the time he gets back in May. His training is 14 weeks long. Three pounds a week is going to be very difficult to acomplish. They say that it's not safe to lose more than 2 pounds a week, which is doable. I wish you luck on your goal!

I am the manager of childcare at a gym and all I can tell you is don't stop going!!! When you get there just put him in and leave, if not he'll think it's somewhere ya'll will be together. Give it 10 minutes one day then 15 the next and so on until he gets used to it. But you have to go all the time or he will NEVER get used to it. Good luck!!!
  • Your son is just one... he isn't trying to wreck your weight loss.. he needs you. He should be napping quite a bit still, so try to do some exercising at home while he is asleep.. there are lots of free things to do at home. Just get creative. Use water bottles for weights, various furniture for help w/exercises. Sometimes I squat in front of a chair, put my arms behind me on the seat, and push myself up to work my arms. Good luck.

Honey...3lbs is gonna be really hard! 1st make sure you eat at least 1200 calories a day..so your body wont go into starvation mode. 2nd is move move move...when ever you can. Dance while making dinner. Run to the bathroom and back. 3rd since your having gym baby trouble look on youtube..you can find a lot of the P90X and insanity stuff there....thoes are hard work outs you can do at home with little to no equipment. 3rd use your friends on here for support.
Good luck You can do this!
  • If 3 is really unrealistic I would-be satisfied with 2. If the weather was nice enough id put him in the strolled but we just got 4 inches ice. Oh my god never am I putting my child last lol weight loss is important but not like my baby boy. He doesn't nap much and since my husband is gone I'm playing single mom to him and my 3 year old so i really only get 30 min at nap time and 30 at nighttime rest of the time I need to take care of kiddos, house and sleep :) I will definitely keep trying the gym but they won't let him cry for longer then ten minutes which is ok I just wish he didnt cry. Does anyone have diet advice besides watching portions?
  • So far, I've just cut back on sugar, and try to limit overly processed foods. I usually grabbed something from the freezer for dinner, and now I try to eat more natural and fresh foods. And I eat smaller portions. For me, specific "diets" haven't worked in the past, so I try to eat things I like, just less of them, or healthier versions. If I eat something "bad" for me, I try to eat very little of it.
Do you have any game systems? If you do, most of them now have exercise games. Maybe you could rent different ones. You'll have to find what works best for you as far as diet. Everyone is different. If you could get in 1 or 2 30 min. workouts everyday during the kids naps, that would be great.

Why do you HAVE to lose 3lbs/week? That seems like a goal to bring disappointment; it's too tough on your body unless you're very heavy.
Why not make the goal to be healthier, start a better lifestyle? Be easy on yourself and celebrate the small victories! You're Mom to a very little one; that's job enough haha! Anything else is frosting.

Good luck...and use this site! It's practical and wonderful for support, too.

  • I really want to surprise my husband :) I have been trying to lose weight but with him around it was so hard so I told myself I just needed to do it while he was gone. I will be disappointed any way unfortunately but that's the nature of me I wont be happy until I am back down where I was before both kids but I highly doubt my hips will ever be there again I was really tiny and rarely ate anything so I don't expect me to be 115 again but I would love it. I just really want to feel good I want my flat belly no matter what weight, I want to be able to wear a dress meaning no cellulite and I want to be able to wear jeans that I don't have to buy big enough to fit but then to big so that I have to constantly pull them up... ugh I hate that so I always look like I slob since I never wear jeans and it has been 4 years since I wore shorts, dress or even a swimsuit. I weigh in at 165. In the next 9 weeks I would like to be at least 140 but I really would like to shoot for 135. Then I have another 6 weeks after that and I would like to lose another ten pounds if I can only because I know when my husband comes back home and we are a family again I will more then likely level back out with another 5 pounds and that's ok as long as I can be in that lower range.
