I know the feeling!! I had to SLOWLY ween myself off of sugar in my coffee... Every once in a while, I'll add a teaspoon to help with the bitterness, but mostly I go black now. NOT EASY, I know! I much prefer the yumminess of Starbucks. LOL

Will power is the only thing I've found that works and right now mine is waning. I LOVE sugar but didn't have any treats or pop last Mon-Thurs and did ok but this week isn't going as well. I caved and have had 2 cookies and really want a Dr. Pepper!

I add extra milk to compensate for the lack of sugar. I use just a dash of half and half and a bunch of skim milk. Then I don't add any sugar in and it still masks the bitterness. Crystal light instead of soda?

I have had the same problem, especially with my coffee. I used to drink those yummy flavored non dairy creamers. But just the other day I tried almond milk instead of creamer. Not nearly as sweet, but if you add one teaspoon of your favorite sweetner, not so bad. Just depends on your personal taste also. I have noticed that once I started cutting back on sugar, things that I before thought were not very sweet ( and most the time added sugar to) taste way sweeter now.

    It's a common struggle... http://www.nydailynews.com/lifestyle/health/2011/02/01/2011-02-01_nyc_sugar_scare_ad_shows_diabetics_decaying_toes_tv_commercial_warns_sugary_soda.html

I used a certain streak of rebelliousness to break much of the sugar habit, viewing it as a corporate conspiracy to keep me spending my money on unhealthy junk in a never-ending spiral. It gave sugar a rather unpleasant taste once I started looking at it that way, lol.
  • Thanks for your help everyone!!!

Oh Dr. Pepper was SO SO SO hard to get rid of!! I feel your pain=)

And I agree, that once you splurge on a little sweet something, your body wants more, more, more!
