I understand where the calorie number MFP gives you. I do not understand where they get the numbers for fat, protein, sugar and so on come from. Can anyone explain this too me?

They are percentages. I upped my protein percentage and lowered my carbs, but it's set up for something like 50% carbs, 40% protein and 10% fat or something like that... I don't remember the default settings!0

Probably a US government daily nutritional recommendation chart. The allotments for nutrients are fairly generic and accepted for the general population in normal health.0

the nutritional recommendation chart. its based on percentages of overall calories, 50% carbs 20% protein 30% fat, well actually 53% carbs 18% protein 29% fat but no need to be that precise. I'm on a fairly specific diet so I changed mine to 60% carbs 20% protein 20% fat0
