So now I am paranoid of sodium. I hate it! But I love the idea of low fat turkey brats. They are low in calories and fat but the sodium is outrageous! Do I eat them anyway because they are low in calories or forgo them because of the sodium?" I don't want to impede my weight loss or gain weight! Help!

I agree they are crazy high in sodium. I really like them too, but was hesitant to eat them again based on the sodium. I am sure they are fine once in awhile, but make sure you drink extra water that day to flush out the sodium. That's what I have heard from others on this site about sodium questions.0

You could always rinse the meat under water to remove any excess sodium that may be on the surface. No one can really exclude sodium totally, because the body needs it for muscle function.
Another option would be to check to see how much sodium is in a serving size, then divide that serving size into smaller ones to reduce the sodium content in it; i.e. if one serving of turkey is 400mg of sodium, 1/2 a serving would yield 200mg of sodium.
As long as you're eating it in moderation along with working out and drinking plenty of water, that should be enough keep your sodium intake at a manageable level.0 -
I would only eat them once in awhile. Definately do not make them a regular part of your meals. The sodium will sabotage you.0

The sodium will make your body retain water and you will see an increase on the scale the next day. Just drinks lots of water and get in a good sweaty workout and your body will get rid of the sodium.
Remember it's only water weight. It's a heck of lot easier to shed water than fat.0
