How much wiggle room should I leave?

I'm going out tonight to a bar concert thingie, and I'm wondering how much space I should leave for while I'm there.
I've already scheduled in a beer, and I easily have 500 calories left. I don't exactly know what I'll be consuming while I'm there (a few fries, another beer maybe?) so I don't want to be too strict, but I don't want to have to sit in front of the TV with a bag of almonds afterwards, either. Ideas?

Two ways to go:
Either plan ahead, log it ahead of time and stick to it, or go and have a good time and log it when you get home. It's one night! How often do you do something like this? Enjoy yourself, make reasonable choices, and live with the results.0 -

I agree! I would schedule in what you think you will be eating and just enjoy yourself.0 -
Ask the waiter for a bowl of fresh mixed nuts (not the ones they keep at the bar- grosss!!!!). Munch on those with your beer and maybe order something like bruchetta if its available??? The fewer ingredients, the lower the calories usually.0

Bar? Concert? And you've only allotted 1-2 beers? You're crazy! LOL! Enjoy yourself every now and again. This is a lifestyle change NOT a death sentence!0

On days when I am going out I try to hit the gym to burn a few extra calories then cut a few from my breakfast and lunch. I like to have about 700 to 800 calories left when I head out so that I can enjoy myself and not stress about it. Life if short and we are all here working to make it longer, but whats life if we don't enjoy it once in a while, in moderation of course?!?!?! :laugh:0

 yeah.
Mixed nuts, unsalted 1 oz = 170 cals. One ounce is the amount that would fit in a small votive candle holder. Fat - 15g.
I don't think I could eat one ounce only - with a beer?
One ingredient foods are not necessarily lower in calories. You could have a whole cup of carrots and only have 52 calories.0 -
Thanks everyone
I'm not much of a drinker, so I probably won't have more than one or two. I'm also going to stay easy on the food. If I'm under, then I'll figure something out.0
