I am worried that I may be over estimating my calories..
For dinner today, I had a chunk of roasted turkey, a spinach salad with some sunflower seeds, and a piece of chocolate cake.
Now, I thought it might be 300-400 calories, especially because of the cake, so I get on my college's "Net Nutrition" website, and put in everything that I ate, and it's saying it's only like 261 calories! Which means, that after working out today to work off the cake, and plus what I had for dinner, I am only at a net or 950-ish calories, and it's 8:30 at night!
Should I just assume that the nutritional information is wrong, or am I just way overestimating my calories? My diary is viewable, so you can see my dinner, but I just quick-calorie-d my dinner. Any advice? :(

edit-- well crap, I forgot that I had some of a stromboli thingy. Let me update my diary! lol

  • I seriously doubt it's that low. The piece of cake, depending on what kind and size should be about 200-250 calories just by itself. A 1 oz piece is about 100 calories, and I would bet the piece was larger than 1 oz. A 4 oz chicken breast is about 130 calories, but a "chunk" isn't exactly a measurement, so I don't know how much you actually ate. :)

Did you add those calories from your sunflower seeds in?

    http://caloriecount.about.com/calories-sunflower-seeds-i12036

1 cup of seeds is 369 cals, so if you divide that by 4 you get 92.25 for 1/4 cup of sunflower seeds. I'm not sure your schools "net nutrition" data is actually correct, I would just use the MFP generic one till you find out the brands they are using etc....

My relatively good choices and eat till your no longer hungry, not till your stuffed. My freshman year I ate most meals at whataburger or Subway long before Jared came around. End of that semester I was 250. After 1 semester at a school that only offered a student meal plan I was down to 180. I wasn't even making good choices for myself then. It just wasn't as bad as the other crap outside the school.

Sounds kinda low especially with the cake. If cake isn't that many calories then I best start eating it again! LOL...

That sounds kind of low... I'd probably go by the estimates on this website instead of your school's. I totally feel your pain! I live in a dorm so I eat mostly dining hall food. It's rough trying to find things that are healthy without eating the same one or two meals over and over, and my school's nutritional info always seems way off, too! Good luck :)
  • okay, so I'm not crazy, and that does sounds low! My dorm has a lot of vegan/vegetarian options, and it's one of the "eat right" places on campus, so I assume it's usually healthier, but like 160 calories for my piece of cake was a bit ridiculous, lol.
