Hi Guys,
I need help! When I first joined this board I was doing really well, even surprised myself in losing 15 lbs within a few months and then the holidays hit. I stopped exercising, at first I ate healthy but started drinking cocktails and sodas then slowly started with the desserts, etc, etc. Now it's a few months later, a 10 lb weight gain and I can't seem to kick all the bad habits.
I'm a mess and don't know how to get the momentum back. HELP!! Any suggestions?
Thanks for listening!
Joan

that sucks..as much as i want to pig out, my motivation is remembering my goal, and that obviously is to lose weight. if you REALLY want it, have will power and keep telling yourself you don't need to eat this dessert, or that drink..i am still trying to do it, and i am about 99% of the way there..add me if you want, and very best of luck0

Hi Joan,
I understand how out of control of your life you must be feeling at the moment. I have this problem in that I start, then we will have a "bad" day (everything goes wrong day), we get home late from work, I haven't planned anything for dinner & my girls have a mountain of homework to do & stupidly, I think it is easier to go through the drive thru at McDonalds. Seriously why do we do this to ourselves. I didn't know how to get out of this spiral but I worked out, for me, losing weight & sticking to a healthy eating regime is very much a mental game. I needed to accept that this is not about eating healthy or losing weight, it's about a lifestyle change. My life now is going to be about making healthy food choices & getting up every morning (yep even weekends) to go running (my "favourite" exercise). I try to look at my week on a whole & work out my food choices from there. Tuesday nights, I have a meeting so a quick dinner is needed. My daughter's have friends staying over Saturday night & they want Nachos for dinner. So I need to make the decision that I will do the right thing each other day so I can enjoy Saturday night.
Don't get me wrong, it's hard every single minute of every day but each day I get through is a good day. And remember if you "fall off the wagon", don't beat yourself up, it happens, make a good choice the next meal or go do some exercise & get straight back into it.
You didn't reach the point where you are at now overnight, it is going to take you a while to get back into a rhythm & take control of your life back.
You CAN do it.

Hey Joan! First you need to remember why it is important for you to lose the weight and once you figure that out think about how you ended where you are now. I say that because if you can't answer those 2 questions this will be a rollercoaster journey for you. After you have it figured out you need to begin to set mini goals to get you motivated to accomplish what you have in mind. Set those goals and understand that you have to want to commit 110% to achieving those goals in order to seeing your success but mentally you have to have them already achieved to complete them. I could go on and on but understand I'm no expert just someone who's learned from experience and just sharing the basic information that I know works. I will send you a friend request. If you're interested add me and you'll also get my Motivation of the Day that I post each day by checking my profile or the My Topics under Motivation and Support Message Boards.0

I know EXACTLY what you are going through. I lost 24 (didn't even eat thanksgiving dinner) but when christmas rolled around I got back into my bad habits. and went up 6 lbs. I think I'm going to get me ticker to move again on my next week weigh-in. (cross my fingers) I'm not going to continue this the rest of my life. I'm promised I would finally get this done this year and I will. Just try to remember how good you were feeling not too long ago and buck up... It can be an awesome summer. Winter is the time to make the sacrifice... Good luck.0

thanks for the pep talk guys. I decided that next week to try to get the eating under control I'll get either lean cuisine or smart ones for lunches at least get a handle on that aspect of it and do it step by step. I want to kick myself for letting it get this out of control!!! Thanks again.0

Hi and wishing you the best here! I LOVE this site. The support and motivation is amazing. I soooo understand what you feel. Do this, take a deep breath and tell yourself that YOU did this before and that YOU can do this again! This time your are stronger with (Shelia's that is me) and the help and motivation of your friends here at MFP, you will overcome!!! I just keep giving myself positive self talk and I remind myself that it was just to tough to get this 20 lbs (some before MFP) off and I will "not" go back there again. We will all be here for you on this journey!!! Best wishes!0

Hi Everyone,
Thanks so much for the encouraging words, with your help I was able to stay on track today, I didn't get to exercise but the eating was under control and that's a start. I really, really believe that your encouragement kicked in and got me back on track. You can't imagine how much that means to me, thanks so much!!!!!!!!0 -

yummy !! these are what i have eaten lately:
Healthy Choice - Select Entrees - Ravioli Florentine Marinara..pretty decent..the sauce tastes sweet and spicy 1 meal 230 calories
Smart Ones - Creamy Rigatoni With Broccoli and Chicken..very good, but the chicken tastes like hot dogs (i think) 1 meal 280 cals
Smart Ones - Weight Watchers - Three Cheese Ziti Marinara..definitely my favorite so far 1 meal 320 calories
they for sure aren't much food, but i guess portion control is a big part of dieting0
