"Healthier" sodas?

I see in the other thread about diet soda a lot of people saying all soda is unhealthy. Is this still true of the natural sodas one can buy at places like Whole Foods? I grew up on Juice Squeeze and absolutely love it, and their website says it "contains no artificial flavors, no artificial colors, preservatives or stabilizers".
Juice Squeeze as well as other sodas like Izze and Fizzy Lizzy are all sodas made with only fruit juice and carbonated water, with no added sugar. I imagine these are only a bit healthier than fruit juice (in that they're diluted by the carbonated water), but do they contain any of the "ill effects" of other sodas?

if you are going to drink soda, although does have some calories in it, whole foods market(i work there and have tried them) their 365 sodas are good and made of natural ingredients. I have heard, dont quote me, that diet soda has a lot of sugar and actually makes you hungrier than drinking a normal soda. i havent really tried any else, but also, the root beer is the best to me, and the orange creme and the raspberry cream are great too0

I wonder about making your own soda using those home soda makers & using something like fruit juices as the starting point, should be healthy (if you start with a healthy fruit juice). No it won't be "Coke" but might be good and still give you the enjoyment of the fizz that some are looking for (water + lemon & lime juice+carbonation = very healthy low cal 7-up knockoff)0

The reason sodas are called "unhealthy" is because of the sugar content and to some degree the carbonation and sodium. Even Juice can be unhealthy if it is consumed in large quantity (because of the sugar-fructose.) Studies have shown that people who drink 2 or more cans of soda (SWEETENED) per day have OVER 50% chance of Pancreatic Cancer (the sugar factor.) I remember back in the day anytime people complained of back problems the advice would be, stop drinking sodas (the back problems were actually kidney reactions to too much sodas.) Sugar and high fructose corn syrup is a major problem in this country; fructose is the next big problem when it is JUICED instead of eating the whole fruit...you would have to EAT 4 oranges to get 1 Cup of OJ and without the Fiber and other benefits Juicing takes away. So it's up to you how much sugar (fructose, sucrose, lactose, hfcs) you want to take in. Remember, everything that "says" Healthy is Not necessarily so, you have to do a little research, then decide for yourself.
Frankly, now, I am to the point where I would rather have 3 teaspoonful of cane sugar in my tea or coffee than use the artificial sweeteners; sometimes I make that choice when my food budget allows it. Artificial sweeteners and sugar alcohols aren't good either...you just have to try and balance it all out and hope y/our body can flush all this "poison" we ingest.0 -
If you can, work in some green tea to replace some of the diet sodas, TONS of health benefits and it tastes awesome too, this coming from a former Dr. Pepper junkie lol
Arizona's Diet Green Tea is all I drink now, day and night0
