For some reason I have been craving the above for the last 24 hours. With an important pre-season football (soccer) match this afternoon, I'm wondering whether it's a good option for breakfast this morning?
Thoughts greatly appreciated!

Absolutely! Eggs are the best! When i'm watching my calories, I make what I call "skinny" eggs. One part whole egg, two parts egg whites.0

absolutely! Great carb and protein mix. If you want to reduce some of the fat, make an omlette with 2 egg whites and 1 whole egg, and throw in some garlic and mushrooms......yummy! Good luck this arvo.0

my fav to eat before work out!0

Thanks, I need it as I have to shake the stigma of being one of the oldest and being unfit. Can't change the former, but the latter pisses me off as although I'm 89kg (which is big for soccer players - especially strikers that I am) I am still as fit and fast as most of the squad thanks to all the boxing training I do. It's a perception thing that I just need to work hard to change............. games like this afternoon are my best chance. Hence why I'm looking to get ever advantage from the fuel I eat!!0 -
I love poached eggs.
I use 1 whole egg, split that yolk between the two slices of wheat bread...two egg whites. I use the light spreadable butter with canola 1/2 Tbs split between the two pieces of bread. I find it a great breakfast for me.0 -
So good! I have a 1 egg and 2 white omelet/scramble at least 3 times a week and mix it with loads of veggies, sometimes another protein, and top it with nutritional yeast. Toss in 1/2 jalapeno or some fresh homemade salsa and you've got an AWESOME breakfast, lunch or dinner! Had it today actually and it was fab!0

Eggcellent*, now I don't have to feel guilty for satisfying my craving.
*PS - sorry for the bad Dad joke!0 -
Eggs(whole) are a perfect food!0

It was very tasty, added a side of grilled tomato (with crushed garlic). I was cheeky and added a slice of deli Ham (of the bone). However, being Scottish I tend to enjoy a cooked breakfast on weekends (and if anyone knows Scotland they'll know what a cooked breakfast includes!).................. so even with the ham, its a big step forward for me! Ha0

PS - didnt seem to slow me down during todays game either, so double thumbs up for this brekkie!0

Yum, that's a great brekky.
I would add a bit of sliced avocado on the toast to make it even better (no butter). Then some cracked pepper on top and you have the breakfast of champions!0 -
Your breakfast sounded great in the end! Hope the game went well today too!0

Felt great (although we got beat 2-1, only a preseason friendly though), had plenty of energy despite the 32C heat and 80%............ I reckon I burned heaps of calories in that heat! Only setback is that I've injured my arm in a tackle, finding it hard to move it now that the adrenalin has dropped and the pain has kicked in. Hopefully its only a knock as I have a week of intensive boxing and training planned for the week ahead............. dont know if I can deal with a disruption to my plans.0 -

Ever watched Cook Yourself Thin? I love Gizzi - she had some great tips on cutting down the fat and calories in a fry up. It's still not really low, as such, but it's much more manageable if you wanted to work it in to your allowance.

^ I'd suggest not eating the whole thing, and taking tips on the individual items - for instance, taking sausages out of their skins and grilling them, cutting the fat off bacon, poaching eggs rather than frying them, and roasting tomatoes and mushrooms with a spritz of oil rather than frying them.0 -

That looks tasty and may be an option for the occasional morning where I want to treat myself............. instead of Squared Sausage, Black Pudding & Dumpling!! Ha0 -
I love poached eggs. I just wish I was a better egg poacher as I rarely get them right. I know a lot of people here just eat the white, but I always heat the whole egg. I just can't seem to waste all those yolks.0

The way I do it seems to work well:
- Add a dash of vinegar to water and bring to boil.
- Lower the heat enough to reduce the boil but still simmering.
- Now heres the cheeky part, lower a slotted spoon into the water so that its just slightly under the surface.
- Pour the egg into the slotted spoon and hold there for about 15 seconds (or until the egg white starts to form around the yolk).
- Then gently tap the egg from the slotted spoon and leave in water for about a minute.
- When cooked to taste, remove from water with a slotted spook and place in a big bowl of cold water.
- Cook any other eggs you need and repeat as above.
- When all eggs are done, remove from cold water and return to the warm water to reheat for about 15-30 seconds.
- Remove eggs and place on a plated paper towel to remove any excess water.

Lazy, perhaps, but I poach mine in the microwave when I am running late and it works great. I have an egg poacher and it takes me 55 seconds to poach them  Works like a charm if I don't want to dirty a saucepan too!0
