I had posted a thread about this before but thought it might be interesting after reading some of the "surprise food discoveries" being made.
What is a FORMER favorite meal of yours? BUT, now that you are living a healthier lifestyle and checked out the nutritional info....consider death on a plate??
Mine would be La Salsa Chicken Nachos with Black Beans (thought I was healthy! with black beans!!)
The info is:
1600 cals
83 g fat (35 saturated)
170 mg cholesterol
2510 mg of sodium
I mean...............DANG!!

Tam Tastic, great question! I've always tried to eat healthy, and recently a friend of mine and I played a round of golf. After the round we went to a Ruby Tuesdays for a beer and some dinner. I discovered they have a Bison Burger on the menu and was estatic!! Bison! Should be lean and healthy. I always liked the Buffalo burger or the Ostrich burger from Fuddruckers and they're healthy, so I ordered a Bison burger and sipped (ok gulped) my beer. 7 minutes later, out comes my Bison burger. It was delicious!!! I couldn't believe it! There is a God and he sent me this Bison burger!!! Soooo, days later in do enough digging to find out it has something like 87 grams of fat!!! Damn! I even called my wife right after dinner (she was out of town) I was so excited. It's hard to find real healthy restaurant food that's different and tastes great, I thought I'd hit the lottery.
No more Ruby's Bison burger for me (damn).

ohmygosh! There are hidden calorie lurking everywhere. One of my favorites is the chicken Sonoma salad at Kelsey's... it is a salad but I am nervous to check out the calorie count.
Talk about a wake up call!0 -
I used to go to Chilis and get the Awsom Onion Blossom as a starter. I found it has the following:
2710 calories
203 g fat
194 Carbs
6,360 mg sodium
Yikes! :noway: For the fat that's like equal to 67 slices of bacon.
I got the figures from "Men's Health" Best and Worst Foods Online0 -
I would get a double quarter pounder with cheese, large fries, and 6 piece nugget. I did that a lot. Seriously, I cannot even smell McD's anymore without feeling sick. :frown:
chicken : Calories 275 fat 17.3
burger and fries and soda : Calories 1550 67 gfat
That was ONE meal!!!!
umm...hello heart attack.
I am ashamed to admit that, but it makes me even more confident that I will never do that again!0 -

Suffice it to say they will NEVER cross my lips again!!!0 -
I used to get the 2 breast meal from bojangles.
That was 2 breasts a biscuit, and some mashed potatoes and gravy
879 calories
57 carbs
30 grams of fat
1608 sodium
The biscuit alone had 663 mg of sodium.
No more for me and I love their cajun breast.   :sad:0 -
I dont know the stats but I used to love Thai food.
I chose the Pad Siew because it has chicken, broccoli and rice noodles. Yum..can taste as we speak.
A friend of my owns a restaraunt and is friends with the Thai owner. I was bragging about my 'healthy' lunch. He laughed out loud.
he said he watched as the cook poored oil (and you can bet it wasnt OVOO) from a bottle- at least 5 oz, then the chicken and broccoli, then they put 4-5 oz of soy sauce and noodles.
Ok so fat would have to be like WOW and sodium...I dont even want to think about it.
At least I know why I bloat up like a puffer fish when I go there. (uh, used to go there   )0 -
You do such interesting posts Tam! Mine is Maries Calendar Chicken Pot Pies. I always thought of them as "wholesome". When I got calorie aware, I saw that ONE pie has over 1000 calories and 2 days worth of sodium. My regrets - and apologies - to Marie Calandar's though - they taste awesome! (sigh)0

I found it Tam....
I think this baby had about 3500 calories...DH brought this home to surprise me! I hadn't eaten a treat in weeks so I ate it just thinking we would have to figure out how to burn 1000 calories between the two of us. Boy was I surprised. We shared it (thank goodness)... And then we ran and burned until we hit 600 calories. It was a long night. LOL

jesus. that dessert looks yummy, but at the same time gross.
mine is i used to order 2 ultimate burger meals (supersized), 2 gravies and 3 buster bars. i would regularly eat this, maybe 2-3 times a week. i have cut down alot, and haven't ordered 2 meals for over a year. not sure of the calorie count, but 1 buster bar alone is 500, so it has to be in the 3-4000 range.0 -

Ohmigosh I used to go crazy at McDonald's too...I would always order the combo meal with the burger, fries, and soda, plus at least one item from the dollar menu...
I'm not at the point yet where I get sick when I smell McDonald's...I still crave it every once in awhile...but now when I eat it I make sure it's worth my calories...I've become the B***h who comes in and specifically requests hot fries...the lukewarm ones that have been sitting there under a heat lamp since last night will not do...if I'm using all those calories, I want those fries hot, crispy, and delicious!0 -
I have no interest in this item but I'll give it a try...
How about:
1/2 scoop of fat free sugar free low calorie vanilla yogurt
2/3 serving of a brownie made with applesauce and egg whites
1/2 tablespoon of crumbled almonds
1/2 tablespoon of heated Hershey's chocolate syrup
1/2 teaspoon of heated caramel ice cream topping on topI found it Tam....
