Hey - is anyone more hungry when their "Friend" is visiting? I feel like I'm experiencing this. If so, how did you curb your appetite or what did you do?

I hate my "friend". I want to kill her. I am hungry, sleepy and irritable when she visits. I am almost looking forward to menopause. LOL0

Drink more water to help with bloating. I have heard that crunchy snacks like fresh veggies make a good substitute for chips. Also, for chocolate, I like the Kelloggs dark choc almond fiber bars. Another thing I do-- when I cave and have a burger or snickers etc work out more to have the extra cals. Plus working out helps dull cramps and makes you feel better (usually)0

Yes! And, I hate it. I eat a little more because I figure my body actually needs it. I also buy Laughing Cow ice cream sandwiches and eat one a night (if I want one) while watching TV. Oh, and a lot of hot tea. I prefer that over coffee, but coffee would be the same in that I buy flavored versions as a mock dessert. I'm trying to be more natural and those things are some of the few things I have left to give up. I put non-dairy creamer and Truvia in my tea.0

Well, gals... I've not seen my "friend" in over a year... lol I'm going through the peri-menopause. I promise I still feel that way at times! Some days I get really bad cravings for certain types of food. I guess we could possibly be in a hormonal shift one way or the other.....0

I can usually curb the hunger, but it's the lethargy that I just can't seem to kick. It's not just that my body doesn't feel up to being active, it's my mind that just seems more depressed. I wish I had a magic solution. I do know that the more I push through it the more my symptoms lessen. You're not alone.0

Same here. LOL I'm otherwise so gung ho about working out but will spend an entire day (just one) in bed during my period... actually sleeping. The other days I'll get my workout in but, I'll still be a little lazy about it. LOL0 -
Usually, I crave fat like crazy. Having any nut butters on hand puts me in jeopardy of eating 1/2 a tub of pb (as opposed to 1/4 of a tub, like usual -_-). But sometimes heeding the hormonal call helps ease things.
1 banana spread with 1tbsp pb + 1tbsp chocolate chips sprinkled on top, eaten slowly and savored, will do the trick. Also, taking multivitamens and Omega-3 supplements really helps the mood swings for me.0 -
Yes Mam I do and what I did was get a bunch of healthy snacks to fool her. Special K bars, Anything with a lot of fiber will help with hungriness. Skinny Cow Ice Cream sandwiches is also a great treat.0

OMG .. Yes! In fact I need to know the same thing! LOL. Last month I was constantaly "grazing". Can't stop it....0

Oh yes! Some months I crave carbs (bread mostly) and other months I crave sweet.
Exercise does help, but I have to admit that this month I caved in & had a load of bread. Not good as it makes me bloat & hold a lot of water weight.
I find if I can keep out of the house as much as possible & keep myself busy it helps. It's worst when I'm relaxing, with nothing to occupy me.0 -

OMG totally! I'm usually pretty active and a happy person - but some months WHAM I want to eat everything in sight, sleep all day, and feel like crying for no reason. You are definitely not alone!
I suggest calling a friend who has bad PMS too (as long as you're not synced up lol), she'll understand that you need to chat to keep from eating a roll of cookie dough lol0 -
Yes!! I become a eating monster..lol I try very hard to control myself. Can't stand it0

I crave fats...unfortunately not the good ones like those found in nuts or avocado, but the really really really bad ones like those found in double meat cheeseburgers slathers with mayonnaise. Usually when I feel the fat monster rearing her ugly head I can subdue her with a picture of my pre-MFP self. But sometimes that doesn't work, so I'll try to budget for something a little healthier that still satisfies the craving, such as a homemade guacamole and swiss burger.0

ALWAYS!!!!!!!!!!!! and I don't always crave the healthiest of foods....0

My "friend" sucks!!! HE just gets in the way and makes it difficult to not want to eat everything in sight. Beyond that, I'm an emotional wreck.
Menopause looks so inviting!0
