Hi. My name is Tiffany and I became a first time mother almost 7 months ago. I gained 60+ while pregnant. I am ready to get this weight off!! My main struggles will be that I work 12 hrs as a 911 Dispatcher and ahve very little free time on the days i work. Mainly grabbing something quick when i get home. Not to mention mostly sitting at work. I've slowly begun to work out on my breaks in our gym and try to watch what i stick in my mouth. I have had a lot of trouble with choosing and sticking with healthy foods. Especially when its seems so much easier to grab whats ready and available. Any suggestions would help and be appreciated thanks!!

  • You need to take some time and plan your meals ahead of time. I usually plan my meals and make a grocery list on Wednesday evenings. I grocery shop on Friday evenings and I cook an entire week's meals (yes, for the whole week) on Saturday (it only takes a couple of hours). I know ahead of time what I'm going to eat for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snakcs. It gives me more time to enjoy my workouts and family during the week. I work a full time job so my time is limited. Crock pot meals or healthy casserole-type meals are great make-ahead meals. Hope this helps.

I make little baggies of my HEALTHY food so I can grab it and go if I have to. When I get home from the store I divide up my Kashi cereal, or crackers, or whatever it may be. Put them in snack size baggies and they are labeled in the cabinet so nobody else touches them. That helps a lot!
  • A bag of steam fresh veggies takes 5 mins to steam, or you can steam a sweet potato in 5 mins, and a can of chicken take 35 seconds to heat. Then those veggies can be leftovers for 1-2 more times. Also fruit and nuts are fast snacks. I also agree with cooking ahead of time. The night before I cook my brown rice or whoel grain noddles for the next day. Cook extra for your dinner and then take that for lunch. Oh and natural PB from the jar is fast and healthy. You just have to really keep track of how much you ate since it's calorie dense.
  • those are both great ideas. i think the baggies could be very helpful.
