I'd like to say I was referred to this wonderful tool by www.344pounds.com. it's a great site, and I highly recommend it. Dude has lost something like 150lbs counting calories, using this site in fact, and details the whole process, great stuff.

So I'm 2 weeks in and I'm happy to report that this is definitely working. I've lost 13 pounds since about the 01/25. As far as what I'm eating, I'm trying to stay more towards non-processed foods, with a food preparation style of that of the Mediterranean diet and perhaps that of the Flat Belly Solution type of thinking. I'm really interested in the coconut oil/fatty acid/help your liver & metabolism thing, I think there's something to that, and I've had success in the past with other similar types of metabolism stimulating diet methods (of my own device, basically preventing my body from staying in starvation mode, lost 30 pounds without a minute of exercise, over the course of a few months). That was a "Biggest Loser" competition last year, and I ended up being the biggest loser because after someone lost 80+lbs and won all the cash, I got depressed and gained it all back and more (I know, I know). Now I'm really focused on creating the hybrid diet plan perfectly tailored for me that is the most sustainable and that best fosters a lifestyle of fitness and health. This site and a few others have helped me to see that this is what it's all about.

After I gained that weight back it took me a while to get my head right and get motivated again. In general I know what and how to eat right, but I have never been great about controlling portions or knowing when I need to shut it down for the day, that kind of thing. So the combination of this site and basic nutritional knowledge is really making the difference. Combine all that with my new exercise program, and it's starting to take shape.

Concerning exercise, I recently got into Krav Maga & boxing training (for fitness). Nothing serious, just taking some basics, learning how to jab, working the heavy bag, jump rope (which I can't do to save my life), jumping jacks, etc. Local Krav Maga school has bag classes and intro Krav classes (mostly fitness stuff). I've always been interested in boxing and martial arts, and the classroom environment is good for me because I'm a social person (my gym membership? went twice. :oP )

I think this time I'm going to get the weight off and keep it off. My wife couldn't be more excited. This is a new chapter in my life, and in our marriage. :flowerforyou:

For those that are struggling, I have to say - this site isn't the answer, it's just a great tool to help you take a step you've already decided to take. I had to reach a mental turning point, basically of "having enough" before the exercise program and this site were going to be of real value to me. I made a *large* investment in a monthly exercise program, demonstrated commitment, and then pursued every available opportunity to further my health and fitness. It's definitely a mindset, and this is an AWESOME tool if you're ready to use it.

I love Krav Maga. It's such a great empowering workout. I feel so strong when I'm done.

I think you are right when you say this site isn't the end all but a tool. But I do think the support and help you get here is invaluable, especially when you may not have the support in your life.

Congrats on your success so far and I wish you all the best.

Definitely. I meant that more as an encouragement. I find people get discouraged when they aren't finding the same traction as others with one program or another, a diet, this or that, and they think it doesn't work, or they have to move on to the next thing (or they just get discouraged). I notice a trend for those who get serious and eventually find significant and sustained success is often a perfect storm of determination (after being "fed up"), the right tools, and as you said, support. The support on this site is amazing, I had no idea until tonight when I started checking out the forums. Thank you by the way for your supportive comments, positive reenforcement is powerful and much appreciated.

Anyway I've probably gotten a little too philosophical about it all. Congrats on your success by the way, wish I too had taken a before pic so I could have a great before and after comparison! I'm amazed at some of these!
