The 2nd week is often a plateu or a week that you will loose less than the first week... The first week your body is going into shock and is gearing up for the weeks ahead!
Stay motivated don't let this week ruin what you have going for you. Expect that some weeks are going to be GREAT, some are going to be OK, and others will SUCK! ... Accept it, move on.. and work hard to achieve where you want to go!
You can do it... don't lose sight!0 -
Amandapanda, you can do it! You're already 6 lbs down The first week is always a GREAT week and then it can taper but you just gotta push thru. If your enjoying your food and enjoying your workouts focus on that and how you feel and the weight will come off. Remember, its a marathon not a sprint.0

You've had a great first week. Don't sabotage yourself. Some weeks you won't lose and some you may gain. You're not dieting, you are changing the way you eat and live forever. I've been doing this for almost 4 weeks and have lost 8 pounds. I needs to come off slowly to stay off. Change your thinking from diet to new way of living and you'll do great!0

One thing to keep in mind is that you don't always see weight loss every week. What you need to focus on is how your clothes are fitting. I had a week that I actually gained two pounds. It got to me a little, but my jeans were lose on me so that helped pick me up. Whenever I feel a little discouraged or frustrated I hit the exercise harder and it makes me feel a bit better. You're only in week two....as people say, you didn't get to be overweight overnight, so you can't expect it to go away overnight. Keep your head up and keep up the good work. If you want to add me as a friend you can. We all need as much encouragement as we can get.0

DON'T GIVE UP!!! I've been doing MFP for about 5 weeks, and last week I only lost half a pound. I was really frustrated and annoyed because the least I've ever lost is 1.4 pounds before that. I was tempted to go eat but I stuck with it and this morning (I weigh in on Saturdays but I had to check after being so annoyed this week) I was already down over a pound just from Saturday!
Our bodies are weird...one week you may not lose a bit and the next you might lose 3 or 4. And sometimes, it sucks but you may plateau for several weeks.
Just remember, if you are taking in less than you burn you WILL LOSE WEIGHT. It's impossible not to. It's just that sometimes it will go in weird ebbs and flows lol.
You have an awesome start to your goals and you can do this!!!!!0 -
I was in the same boat. Lost 7 lbs the first week but didn't loos any until the 4 week. I could see that the work outs were working because my jeans were getting baggy. It's hard to let go of the numbers on the scale. Weigh yourself once a week. Take measurement every few weeks. You are on a good roll. Keep it up.Loosing 1-2 lbs a week is healthy.
Try to set realistic goals. Its takes time to put in on and more time to get it off. Gaining is the easy part. You'll have to work your butt of to loose weight. We are all on the same journey so hang in there. We have your back.0 -
Ugh Amanda... I know how you feel! I have a lot i want to lose and it sometimes seems impossible to me too! It seemed to take forever before I started noticing changes, but in fact it was really only like 2 months. My scale seems to not want to ever go down, but when I actually saw and felt the changes to my body one day, that was so much more motivating to me than the scale going down! About a month ago I decided to quit obsessing over the number on my scale. Instead, I now set a mini goal for myself each week. It may be to run so much on the treadmill each day that week, or to eat more fruits and veggies each day that week, etc. And I found that meeting these mini goals helps keep me motivated because I sometimes feel discouraged and as if i will never lose the weight when I think of how far I still have to go. Sorry to go off on a rant lol but I hope this helps and motivates you. But just be patient and keep doing what you are doing... you will see results!0

Then KEEP WANTING IT!! It took more than a couple weeks to put on those extra pounds, and it takes time to get rid of them too.. You just have to chin-up power through and stick to it, no matter how frustrated you may feel!.... My first month at the gym, I saw zero improvements in the mirror... I did my end-of-month weigh in, and I'd gained 5 lbs and a few inches!!.... Needless to say, I felt discouraged. I was feeling better, but those numbers got me down. I stuck with it, and did my 2nd month weigh in on the weekend. I lost 4.5 lbs and 7.75 Inches total!! I am pretty proud of that accomplishment and I am powering through this month to see just how I can progress this month. Try making it a contest with yourself. Set a goal for the week/month, and then try to beat it the next. You;'ll do fine and if you need more encouragement, let me know.0

SO TRUE!!!!!!!!0 -
Well congratulations on your weight loss thus far! However, you're only into week 2 and already doubting yourself? Wow! You must want instant results! It took me three months to lose my last 10 lbs. I have many friends here who have been at this over a year to lose their 100 lbs.
I'd say you have a long journey ahead of you, and you'll need to learn patience, consistency, perserverance, and more patience to achieve your goal.
You can't doubt yourself this early on, otherwise how will you cope in three, six or nine months down the road? As everyone says, this is a lifestyle change, it has to be sustainable for the rest of your life. The faster you lose your weight, the more unlikely you are to keep it off. Slow, steady weight loss of 1-2 lbs a week is sustainable for months on end, and that is your goal. Also you need to give your body (and mind!) time to adjust to the weight loss.
I read your profile and just wanted to make a comment that not all food is your enemy. Healthy, nutritious, freshly prepared food is what keeps you alive and gives you energy! Trans fats, processed, sodium rich junk food is the enemy!0 -
I am still getting into the habit of change! my life has been revolved around food for a long time, I know its going to take time and effort and i will stay on track.. I just am just curious as to where i will be a few weeks n months from now.. Im not saying i want to be 100lb lost already!! im just saying am i doing the right thing to lose?/ And Food is my enemy because i dont know all facts about food yet im used to eating the processed fatty stuff, But i am training myself to change my life!! THanks for the truth and support it means a lot!! and i will continue on this journey!0

Funny thing is, after my first week I thought the same thing. That I would lose the weight that week, but it would not come off the second week. This little thing clicks in your head and makes you doubt everything. I have chosen to ignore it and stick to eating and working out, and the results so far have been nothing but positive. I cannot wait to meet my goal...hopefully by the end of April. *fingers crossed*
We CAN do this!!!!0
