Conflicted and Frustrated (little vent)

So, a couple of weeks ago I had a surprise allergic reaction to peanuts. The doctor put me on Benadryl and Allegra until the hives went away (about a week) During that time I gained back 7 pounds of what I had lost! I retained every single ounce of water that I drank during that time. In the week following I lost 5 of those pounds (w00t) and still have the last two hanging around. My God are they stubborn!!! I am eating well and drinking between 2-3 liters of water everyday and getting some exercise on the weekends with the C25K. Now my weight is not budging. However, I must be losing inches somehow, because I put a skirt on a Saturday night to go to a friend's birthday party and as I was walking down the hall, it fell right over my hips and to the floor! The boots that I had on looked bad because they are too big on my calves now, so they look slouchy.

The last couple of days, all I have done is eat, eat and EAT! It's not all in my diary. Last night as I was finishing dinner I thought to myself "I don't care if I'm fat, I don't look too bad/My God you look horrid and you need to get this weight off of you"

Am I the only one who has conflicts like this??

perhaps your body is still suffering from the allergic reaction and trying to console itself; work itself through.

Relax. Have faith that tomorrow is a better day :flowerforyou:

Keep your mind on the true goal--you will feel so much better and be healthier when you are not overweight!

I've had the same problem with antihistimines. I have to take them often for sinus issues, and when I take zyrtec for a long time--like over a week-- I retain more than fluid. I'm not really constipated, but let's just say that things don't move out like they should! So that could be some of your problem too. Benadryl is better, but everyone is different in their reactions to drugs. I can't find any evidence of this side effect anywhere, including when talking to my nurse practicioner. But I do know that when I stop taking the zyrtec, I will usually have a drop in weight (a pound or two) in about 5-7 days. And I don't think it is true weight loss, because I am now maintaining.

I have this mental battle every few days... interspersed with "what the hell am I doing wrong, why can't I lose this weight"... and then TOM appears to add a 3rd voice "WANT... BROWNIES...NOW"....

Great job on the skirt falling off!!

  • I have to say that this is a battle I have every other week. I guess the main thing is that we keep coming back to wanting to lose the weight. When I have a bad day, I just start over the next day. I think the real challenge I face is wanting it and doing something to get it! We will GET IT I am sure!:drinker:

My problem recently is just getting my workout grove on. I'm starting to lose muscle mass (which took 3 years of work to get in the first place), but dark mornings and dark nights are not helping me. I just lie there hitting the snooze button. I think any of us using this site run in to the conflicted feelings, no matter where we are at with our bodies. XOXOXOXOX feel better:smile:
