Calorie Cycling

Hey guys, I have a couple questions about calorie cycling. People talk alot about it on here, and I was thinking of trying it. So:
1. How often do you cycle? Is it a week high, week low? One day high, one day low? One day high, two days low, one day high? How does that work?
2. How do exercise calories factor in? Do you eat them? Not?
3. How high/low should you go? I'm set at 1200 calories by MFP. Should I do like 800, then 1800? 1000, then 1200?

Thanks for any help anyone can provide!

I haven't hit a plateau yet but I feel it coming and that is when I plan to kick into calorie cycling. I also would like more information from those who have tried it, what they do and does it help?

Zigzagging your calories is a great way to shake up your metabolism! I believe that you should eat your normal calories for one to two days, then up your calories on the next day about 100-300 calories. On day 3 and 4, go back down to your normal calories and so forth. As far as eating back your exercise calories, it's a personal choice as to whether or not it is helping you. Many peeps on here feel that you should eat them back as it keeps your metabolism at an even keel to keep burning the fat even at rest. Really though, it's a personal choice and you need to see what works best for you by trial and error.

I do zigzag my calories quite often, as I have a splurge night and eat at my favorite Mexican resturant once aweek. I find that it helps me to stay focused and I don't feel so deprived. As individual as everyone is, it's best to try different things to see what works for you. Keep up the good work and stay focused. Hope this helps. Good luck!
