Hi everyone! Question....sometimes I still feel hungry and do not want to use all my calories. I was on WW in the past and some foods are 0 points. Are there any foods that are 0 calories????? For example on my busy days, I drink a Special K protein shake for breakfast, tons of water thru day (approx 10-16 cups), sensible lunch (chick pea salad/carrot sticks/pita chips) and dinner (one pork chop, corn and somebrown rice). But by 7pm, I'm hungry! Any ideas????

There aren't really many foods that are 0 calories that are sensible for you. There is water, some gum....ummmm if there are others, I have yet to find them.

Have you thought about adjusting when you eat your main meals? I find myself eating dinner around 6:30 and that usually ends me around 7:30 and keeps me happy for the rest of the night. Also it is okay to snack and you want to eat close to your target calorie range as possible so your body doesn't go into starvation mode. Its okay to eat the full 1200 cal (if you are on the 1200). Calories don't roll over, so use them. If you fear you are going to go over (by a little), do an extra few minutes of exercise. You don't want to "save" calories cause you think it will speed up the weight loss process. Your meals sound awesome as is..! Good luck :)

Go for a couple of satsumas, or maybe some apple and cottage cheese or apple and PB? Maybe an oatcake? Obviously they have calories but food does!

I find that when I get late night munchies, if I don't eat, I won't sleep!

Try some veggies ... green beans are only 35 calories. I don't know what your calorie goal is but you might want to do 5 to 6 small meals or 3 small meals and 2 to 3 snacks throughout the day. I eat something every two to three hours. It keeps your blood sugar more level and I don't every get too hungry because I eat often.
  • even gum has 5 calories! LOL

If I can make it btwn the hours of 2 until dinner, I am usually good!

I have found the light string cheese (50 cal) with a piece of fruit for a total of about 150 calories. Other than that, when I eat a high protein meal it stays much longer!

Water is the only real "zero" calorie "food." Some diet sodas are also 0 calories, but of course water is better for you. I would look at what you are eating during the day and make sure you are choosing filling foods.

For me, I have oatmeal with fresh blueberries and a little Splenda brown sugar for breakfast and it really fills me up. Before, I was having a protein smoothie but it did not fill my stomach and make me feel satisfied.

I also spread my food out so that I am eating 6 small meals throughout the day so I never get that hungry feeling. And of course chewing gum and drinking tons of water helps too.

Whenever I get hungry after 7pm, I find something productive to do to get my mind somewhere else. I will clean, vacuum, do crafts, etc. Usually if I get my mind on something else, I forget that I am hungry!

Ok so this brings another question.....if I am to eat all my calories, do I also eat my exercise calories too? Bear w me please, I'm trying to get used to the calorie and not the point thing! I am sick of all these "diets" and rather just learn to eat and exercise healthy within my caloric and nutrient range!

There is no such thing as zero calorie. With the exception of water, I really dont see how they can say diet soda is zero, because every substance has a calorie count. Brands will put zero on a product and put a tiny serving size. ex: Pam nonstick spray 1/3 of a second spray = 0 calories, really who sprays 1/3 of a second. I saw on the Today Show where they said an averafe spray is 2 seconds and 14 calories. All those spices that say zero...wrong. research this for yourself. I forget the true numbers. As for snacks to help you threw to next meal, celery, carrots, cabbage are all low calorie foods that might satisfy you until your next meal. try looking at if you are really hungry or just a boredom issue. I prelog all my food then add in my snacks. good luck

WIth exercise, my trainer said to ignore the calories I "earn back" from exercising if I want to lose weight. So I stick to eating 1200 calories a day. I work out 5-6 days a week but I don't rely on the calories I burned off. I do - however - use them once a week sometimes to allow myself to have some fun on the weekends. Usually on Saturdays, but I still don't use them all.

For example, last Saturday I burned 625 calories working out with a trainer. We had a party to go to that night and those calories burned allowed me to go over my usual 1200 calories. I only used 300 of them. I hope that makes sense.
  • Every food have calories! Even lettuce.
But some food help the body burn calories!!! What make them very good for snacking:

lettuce, celery, tomatos, most of the raw vegs!! Be careful with carrots, but still very good snack!! Raw vegs help burn calories.
