Hi! My name is Lisa, I am a mom of 3 grown boys and married for 28 years. I need to loose weigh for my health. I am on too many medications! I would also like to lose weight so I will like myself, can't even stand to look at myself. I would appreciate any help I can get. I am currently laid off, and that is really bad for me. This is when I gain my weight! I work during the spring and summer and usually lose about 10-15 lbs. but that is not enough. Thanks for listening to my whining! Looking forward to this! (scared though)

I too needed to lose weight for my health. I was on BP meds and had knee arthritis that made me not want to move at all. I am on a wonderful program that allowed me to get off my meds and now I don't even feel my knee pain. Love is so much better.0

Allow the exercise and diet to change your focus on to more positive things. It will help you deal with being laid off as well.0

I don't like looking at myself any more either I am actually 25kg lighter now than I was after giving birth to my son 18 months ago and am starting to feel a bit better about myself MFP has helped me to get control over my life again and every morning although I hate to do it I stand in front of the mirror and tell myself that by the end of this year I will be 75kg. just one little piece of advice get yourself some dream jeans a pair of jeans in the size you want to be hang them in the wardrobe next to your normal clothes and every now and then try them on I did this and it feels awesome to be wearing my UK size 18 again I know have a pair in a size 14 I will be wearing them on christmas day and so will you x you can do it x0

I loved your picture. I totally know how it feels to look at a FAT SHADOW, especially when your friends and family are thin!
Google "mayo clinic weight loss" and check out information on there! They are not SELLING anything. It is accurate information. I love it. Start with "Weight Loss: assess your readiness to change." Permanent weight loss involves more than losing weight and, therefore, requires more thought and energy. Look at your job loss as an opportunity to spend time on Weight Loss if you can manage the stress of both. Some people can, some can't. Clock so many hours to looking for a job and so many hours of Weight Loss Study and so many hours of Weight Loss Practice (exercise, cooking, shopping.) I also think another great article is "Weight-loss goals: 10 tips for Success."
Good Luck! You can do it. Attitude is Altitude! Look on the positive side of everything.0 -

Hi, I can not stand to look at myself in the mirror either so i can totally relate to that. My friends and familly are also all skinny/thin. My fitness pal has been a real eye opener- I didn't pay ANY attention whatsoever before as to what I was eating, and understood very little about nutrition- I knew I was overweight but lacked the confidence/will power/knowledge to do anything about it. I've found that logging on here everyday really helps my motivation- and I've picked up lots of tips and advice-there's some very inspirational people on here! I wish you the best of luck- you can do it!0
