So I've generally always had pretty good skin--the occasional blemish here and there, but nothing too bad. Now that I've started eating well (or, better, I should say, lol), drinking a ton of water and exercising, all of a sudden my skin is terrible--blemishy and blotchy and such. Everyone said my skin should get better the better I ate, more water I drank, and more I worked out--what am I doing wrong? I use Olay anti blemish 7 in one face wash at night (I exercise and take my showers at night. I simply get up too early to do these things in the morning) and am currently using L'Oreal Youth Code moisturizer (something that was working great before I started on this weight loss endeavor). And eye cream, but I'm not having a problem with that.
Anyways, has anyone else experienced this? What am I doing wrong? How can I fix it?

It is possible that your body is going through a cleanse and you are flushing the toxins out. Hang in there, and it likely will pass.0

I had friends go through this when they eliminated processed foods from their diets (a married couple). They also started exercising regularly during this time. The guy was getting pimples like crazy and I forget what the girl had, but they both had skin issues for a while. It does go away, but I don't remember how long it went on for. It is toxins coming out through your pores. Soon that will pass, though, and you will be glowing!0

It's also possible that your skin has changed and you don't need all that stuff anymore. Since I started eating better and working out and all that, I just wash my face with good ol' H2O, slap on a little moisturizer (because otherwise I have lizard skin in the winter) and I'm good. I use nothing at all in the summer. :-)0

I agree with Mary. Also I found that the Olay cleanser that you are using made me break out but that is probably not the case with you especially if you were using it before. I just recently purchased a Clarisonic and it is amazing, it gets my face so clean and smooth but even after using it just twice I noticed I was breaking out more, I think it is from the Clarisonic cleaning so deep down and pushing the gunk to the surface because I am using my normal cleanser and prescription medicines as normal so it could be the same sort of situation where all the sweat and water and eating good is pushing all the toxins and gunk to the surface of your skin.0

A little trick I learned if you catch your pimples starting at night put a dab of regular white toothpaste on them and leave overnight and it will be gone in the morning.
It is probably the way your body is detoxifying and should be temporary.0 -
Added info: it's been about a month for me, I would think that the 'toxins' would be flushed by now and such....I'm trying not to compound things with makeup, but when my choices are 'don't compound the problem but look like a 16 yr old with skin problems' or 'compound the problem with makeup but look decent' it's hard to forgo the makeup, even though I know it will make it worse...0

all the new sweating you are doing is getting all the crap out of you. I have always been told it is best to wash you face right before working out to get all the crud from the day off your skin as not to block your pores and then wash again right after working out to get all the sweat off your face. Exercising gets the blood pumping and it also brings it closer to the skin serface that is why you get flushed when working out. The toxins are in your blood, they are coming out at a faster rate then your skin is used to and that is the reason for the blemishes. Do NOT clean your skin so much that you get too dry that will just make matters worse. Cleanse and moisterize. I know it sucks right now but it will get better.0

you are detoxing all the yuck you use to eat out --- it will go away once your body adjusts0

I have been having the same problems! i haven't gotten blemishes on my back since puberty. and now i have a couple. and i talked to the doctor and she said it is the body doing a detox and getting rid of all the nasty junk in the body left by greasy, salty, processed, and overly sweet foods!! She said it would take a couple months to get better. Just hang in there and you might want to go with a milder face wash like aveeno or something good and natural. DON'T STRESS IT WILL BE OK!!0

If you can get away with using mineral powder foundation it won't make it worse. I use the Neutrogenia mineral loose powder but still make sure I wash it all off before bed. I still get a pretty good coverage with this. I have occasional break outs now that I have it controled with topical medicines but have some scarring.0 -
I've done the toothpaste trick at night before....it does work...but the BF thinks I am crazy....:happy:0

I used to go from product to product with no relief. Everything eventually made me break out or have blotchy skin like you said. Then it dawned on me: I have sensitive skin. Your skin may have changed. What I did was switch to gentle cleansers and my skin did a 180. Try Neutrogena extra gentle face wash and their sensitive skin moisturizer. I use the moisturizer under makeup (sparingly of course) and put it on a little heavier at night. Also use a gentle exfoliator two or three times a week (a little baking soda with a teeny bit of water mixed in will do wonders! It is also good on removing product buildup in your hair and exfoliating your whole body!) I also use makeup without talc in it. I realized that talc was terrible to my skin. I use mineral makeup. Physician's Formula makes some good products without talc-not too too expensive.
So, since I've done all this, my skin is great! Body chemistry changes sometimes, and you just have to go with it and do the best you can. Hang in there!! Good luck!! :drinker:0 -

It's only been a month....how many years did you eat bad food? Give it some time, just try to keep your skin clean until then.0
