I have recently dicovered that I am allergic to some veggies and fruits on top of the sensitivities to Wheat and gluten. I was great maintaining my potassium intake before all of this. My main source was from bananas and unfortunately they are on the list, I know I can take supplements but I was wondering if there is anything else food wise?

Bananas is always the thing people tell ya. But I will tell you bake potato is worth almost half of your potassium for the day. A banana only has about 400, Orange juice has more then Oranges but the calories and sugar are high and again your only getting about 400

I'm not sure about the gluten content, but you can get potassium from cantaloupe, dates, raisins, peanuts, nectarines, oranges, tomatoes, spinach, brussel sprouts, fresh peaches and fresh apricots and potatoes and other things.0

One more thing about potassium that I have found is your diet must stay under the daily max of sodium. Too much sodium in your diet with make it so your body can't absorb potassium. Which I never knew till I became deficient in potassium and wanted to know why.0

Huh, I never knew that either! Potassium-related muscle problems run in my family -- I'll have to pass that information along. Thanks!0 -
Thanks everyone.
I am allergic to Bananas, broccolli, asparagus, pears, pineapples, cabbage, cranberry, lemons, gluten, wheat, rye, oysters and egg whites/yolks but the eggs I don't react as much as the others.
I guess I will have to learn to love potatoes lol. I will definitely look back at this list. Thanks0 -

no problem. I had a seizure while working out with my trainer last March. She thought my sugar was low but they took my sugar and it was fine. Turned out to be very low potassium which scared the hell out of me once I did research on what that could do to me.0 -
It's funny how bananas are synonymous with potassium when there are much better sources, especially through fruit. Go for raisins or prunes as these pack a big potassium punch. Or if you are feeling really adventurous go for spirulina, yes that is seaweed, as that's a massive source. Besides those there are plenty of nuts and seeds high in potassium, check out a long list here: http://www.calories-in-foods.com/foods-high-potassium.php0
