Any Yogis out there?

One of my main inspirations for getting in shape is my aspiration of becoming a yoga teacher. Do you think it is possible for me to get into good enough condition to become a strong and flexible yoga instructor? Are there any plump yogis out there? :P

I loved Bikram yoga when I was at my skinniest a few ears ago... but still over my goal weight...still plump. I think commitment and mind-set play a gigantic role in yoga success. Or at least with something as intense as Bikram (hot) yoga.
Interestingly, while I was doing Bikram yoga, I craved more healthy foods. Hm. One thing leads to another!
Good luck!!!0 -

My yoga teacher is Inidian and she is plump (Western standard plump - she looks normal to me) and very good at teaching. I think it is the skills that matter not the looks.0

I do traditional yoga. My instructors are ALL over the age of 55, are slightly plump, and can out-yoga me any day of the week! So yes, I think you can reach your goal!0

I discovered yoga two and a half years ago. The first two years I was officially obese. I've lost about sixty pounds and
my goal is a total of ninety. 99.5% of all yoga is easier for me after having lost weight. I was able to keep up and making
progress while larger. It is just easier. It wasn't my initial motivation, but now I think getting to my goal weight
will actually help me deepen my practice. That said my guru B.K.S. Iyengar's daughter Geeta now heads his
school. Geeta is a large women. She wrote "Yoga: A Gem for Women" among others. So, I don't know
if it will hurt being large. I think for me it just made things both slower and a little harder.

SO glad to hear not every yoga instructor out there is 110 lbs! I've been practicing yoga regularly for a year now and I really feel the difference in many aspects of my life. At my community college I attend a Gentle Yoga class mondays and wednesdays at 7 am and on tuesdays and thursdays at 7 I have my Iyengar Yoga class. I'm very happy with my choice to do both classes this semester and still try to find time to go to my favorite studio, Blissful Yoga Studio, about once a month or whenever I have some spare cash. I really hope that in this next year I can get in good enough shape to attend the Southwest Institute of Healing Arts for their yoga teacher training program!0
