I'm trying to lose weight. I know I'm trying to lose weight because I spend an inordinate amount of time thinking about losing weight. I sweat myself to pieces when I work out, I plan all of my meals like, for the first time in my life, and I plan my grocery lists, so I have ample evidence that I have started in on a process to lose weight.
So why, why WHY did I eat goldfish at 3 this morning? Yes, I was starving, I admit it. But apparently I just FORGOT about the whole lose weight thing. Now, granted, I can build those 300 f****ing calories into my day, but that's not the point.
I'm the chick that quit smoking cold turkey! I gave up pop for two straight years! I weaned myself off of pancakes, mashed potatoes, and hot buttered rice before I even decided to lose weight!! So why, WHY can't I stop the midnight snacking thing?
Signed, Defeated, Disgusted

Hey girl,
Don't beat yourself up too hard over this. If you planned your whole meal things and caved for some goldfish at 3 am. That's okay if you have just a few pieces. Just a few. If you keep denying yourself what you crave then usually you'll eat far more than what you really wanted. If you usually have a craving in the morning like that maybe drink a lot of water instead, or have 5 pieces of goldfish on the nighttable and wash it down with water. If you absolutely do not want to eat. have a bottle by your bed ready to drink.
Just because you did this one thing doesn't make everything you did a waste. It's okay! Just start fresh from that point. and be more concious of your decisions and take measures to prevent it next time. You can do it!0 -
I used to do that, snack without even realizing what I was doing. What helped me is I put a note on the top of the animal crackers (my bane!) reminding myself that I had grapes in the fridge lol! I know it sounds silly but It really helped me. dont beat yourself up too much about it0

I feel your pain. I did this last night and came here to confess. I bought pretzel sticks for my daughter and the little boy I babysit, then I made a low fat sour cream hidden valley ranch dip (I confess I made it for me) and ate the danged tub in two nights. I will try the suggestion of a note on top of the pretzel bag to tell me about my grapes I so diligently worked at dividing them out into little snack sized bags the next late night snack craving. I love grapes so I bet it will cure my middle of the night snake cravings.
Hang in there, it is hard to break the habits.0 -
Are you getting all of your calories?
It might be helpful to try pairing a salty or other unhealthy snack with something healthy. Like a serving size of goldfish with a banana. That way, you satisfy your craving without filling up on it. Don't beat yourself up for eating when you're hungry though; if you're actually feeling hungry, that's your body's way of saying its low on fuel, and you certainly don't want to start ignoring that.0 -
Babe!
We all fall. We just get back and start again.
Dont tear into yourself and allow a slip to become a complete fail. It is what it is...that's all. Boo yah..its over. Embrace that
you will have days like that and you are in it for the long haul. More like a marathon not a sprint.
We are all here for you. You can do this !
