Nursing mom a Q for you

Am I the only one that holds onto weight rather than losing it?? I am not even talking 5 pounds for me it is always about 15 pounds. After I stop nursing within a month I drop avg. 15 pounds with no diet changes. My son is now 18months and no signs of weaning any time soon. I love our bonding time still but hate that I know it is keeping some of this weight on.

  • I am right there with you! I do feel like I hang onto weight longer b/c I BF--- I've dropped alot lately b/c my daughter is ony nursing 1- maybe 2 per day. I don't feel that "hungry" anymore that I use to get while I was BF her constantly... but I've been exercising my butt off to so that's made a difference too. When we're totally done I know i'll just drop 10 immediately! Oh, what we do for our babies!

I am a nursing mother too. I bet that you're have some extra weight from your milk. When you stop nursing, it means less weight. Plus your hormones change. And I feel less hungry when I'm not nursing! I hope you figure it out! Drink lots of water, measure your portions, and hopefully you'll see some results soon!

You are not alone! Just remember... those nursing times won't be around forever. Just work on getting into healthy habbits NOW, and when he does wean, you'll already have half the battle won. Enjoy your bonding time. You have lots of time to whittle off the 15 lbs after those precious moments are over.

I have a really hard time losing weight when I'm nursing. I'm definitely not one of the lucky ones who breastfeeding helps them lose weight. My son is 17 months and nursing twice a day and just now is he nursing infrequently enough that its a little easier to lose.
