Hi i have just started using myfitnesspal today.

This is the first time i have tried to lose weight by controling what i eat as well as exercise, so any tips on food that fill you up for longer would be great, as i think thats my main source of weight gain.

I have just started to get my figure back after having my second child and need to lose certain bits that refuse to go and tone up.

Im currently using my cross trainer for 30 min every day and my ab circle pro for approx 6 mins per day.
I was told the best way to lose around the middle was that sort af exercise but again any tips would be great as im a compleate
newbie.

Thanks

    Welcome :-))
  • If you choose foods lower on the glycemic index (think diabetic diet), you'll feel fuller longer. Also, don't forget water! This will fill you up and provide you with needed hydration.

    Welcome!

    Hi Lisa.......I'm Lisa too!

Nice to meet you! I hear you about wanting to find foods that fill you up - I'm learning as I go on here, but one thing I've definitely realized is that this website is GREAT for support and suggestions! I'll tell you what I love as a snack - a Polly-O String cheese and 1/4 cup of BJ's Trail Mix.....that holds me over! And I'm starting to learn about different breakfasts and lunches that I've found kept me fuller longer.....this website is great! I think you'll really enjoy it!

We're all here for you! Welcome to the MFP Club!
    :) Lisa

From all i have read, and done, you cannot lose weight around your midsection from doing only ab workouts. The best bet for losing weight around you middle is to either do interval cardio, short bursts of high intensity to get your heart rate up and slightly longer cool down periods to catch your breath, or you can do circuit training with weights. the weights used for the circuit training does not have to be super heavy, the goal is to bring your heart rate up for an extended period of time.
Also remember that short/ high intensity cardio will boost your metabolism and help to burn calories while you recover from your workouts.
The last thing I will leave you with is that cardio also does not simply target the weight around the stomach area, it burns calories everywhere. Ever person's body will burn fat in different areas first. Do not lose hope if you do not see results in your midsection right away. Judge your progress by how you look in the mirror and how your clothes are fitting.
Good luck, wish you the best

Hello and welcome. Losing baby weight can be so difficult. Ive found drinking loads of water and cutting down my portion size has helped considerably. ;)
