I found the following videos today and wanted to share them with everyone. What she talkes about makes a bunch of sense to me. I don't think she is saying cut carbs 100%, but be very smart on how you do it. Watch them for your self and let me know what you think.

OMG! My carbs are high! She recommends around 70 grams of carbs a day . . . thats half of what I consumed today. But you know, I'm tired a lot, moody some days and I cannot seem to drop weight. hmmm. . .0

My opinion...take it or leave it.
I was diagnosed as type 2 Diabetic last March. I took the Diabetic classes and I've since turned my health around. My numbers are all in normal ranges.
I'm telling that because I watched two of these videos and I disagree with what she's saying. I've done the low carb stuff and I always put the weight back on. This time, I'm doing 160-180 g. of carbs a day. They're healthy carbs and I can assure you, MOST apples are NOT low carb as she says!! That is one thing my dietician told our class. She brought in a model of a "low carb" apple. She challenged every one of us to find one. It's a very small apple...VERY small. The average apple is 20+ carbs. Snacks are advised to be 15 g. or less. So, it doesn't fit.
But, as I've said before, to each their own. If it works for you, great. I'd rather have a realistic "diet." And, seeing how I'm in normal ranges with an A1C of 5.2 (Dec. 2010), I'll stick with my ways.0 -

I think you nailed it right here. HEALTHY carbs. Not enriched or stuff with HFCS.
Question, as a Diabetic - What did you think about her comment on diet sodas and artificial sweeteners? ie, they can still spike the blood sugar and raise insulin. I use to drink a 36 pack of Diet Dr Pepper but since I have been starting my new life with MFP and the gym I may have one a day if that (talk about saving money! lol). I mostly drink water now, around 9-12 cups a day.

Honestly, when I heard her saying the low number of carbs and then about the apples, I started FF through her stuff. She may know how the system works, but I don't agree with the knowledge on food intake. I missed about the artificial sweeteners/diet sodas.
I can tell you what I do: I drink diet pepsi only on Saturday and it's maybe 2? Throughout the week and any other day, I use Splenda.0 -
There was a lot of information in those videos, most of which is new to me. I feel rather overwhelmed at the change she is asking us to make. But, I will take what she said into consideration, keep an eye on my carb intake, and do more research. Thank you for posting!0

Haven't had much time to do more research, but here is a link to an article by Mayo Clinic. Based on this, I'm more likely to think limiting carbs somewhat is a good idea, but maybe not to the 70 g a day as suggested in the videos linked above. I recently started reading Master Your Metabolism by Jillian Michaels, and she suggests not eating carbs before bed, because if you don't, it forces your body to burn fat while you sleep instead of the carbs you ate. I used to eat 6 cups of popcorn around 9 pm almost every night (about 40 g of carbs), and my weight loss stalled. Probably coincidental, but I might rethink that habit now.

woah 70g a day? looking through my diary I average on eating twice that amount! i might try sticking to 100g for a week and see how i get on0
