I have been reading lots lately about the many benefits of drinking green tea, however I really cannot stomach it :embarassed: ive tried it with lemon, and other added bit but it really does taste yucky! and they recommend 4 cups a day :noway: I dont like normal tea either!
I saw an advert in a magazine yesterday for some tablets with green tea in them:

however I have always been against the idea of taking slimming pills - which these are marketed as, and i'm very near my goal weight anyway - but I would still like the good benefits from green tea!

does anyone take anything like this? do you notice a difference? and can you just buy "green tea capsules" without the slimming pill bit?? thanks for any advice

  • Apparently what helps with the weight loss in green tea is EGCG... One-A-Day makes a vitamin that contains it, I think it's called One-A-Day Women's Weight Control. As for if it works, I couldn't tell you. I'm a big fan of green tea, and I try to get it in the liquid form!
  • You can buy capsules in health food store, however i don't know if they work as i always forget to take pills etc.

I take green tea extract in pill form in conjunction with cranberry extract and milk thistle, and with my diet, I've lost 16 pounds in the last two and a half weeks.

If you take green tea extract, just be sure to drink plenty of water (8 - 10 glasses a day).

Healthspan do a Green Tea Extract tablet that isn't marketed as a slimming aid.

I'm slowly getting used to the taste of green tea, but do find it bitter!

I can't stand green tea either, though I think I will try it again. I am converting to warm lemon water from cold Crystal Light drink mixes, so it seems like a good time to try green tea again. My husband has a white and green tea combo, as will as a red and green combo, so I'll try those out, with lots of lemon and maybe lime or orange or pomegranate in them.
As for tablets, there are lots of them out there. I buy supplements from Puritan's Pride online because they carry good stuff and it is less expensive than just about anywhere else.

I have been taking Green-T-Ext (I got this from EBAY along with caffine tablets after reading up on it) and have been taking for about a week and a half now but was away for the weekend so stopped them and back on again.

What I will say though is that I got a very sore head with them and after reading up on side effects it turns out that I may have been detoxing. I had horrible musus that I had to cough up and spit out (sorry) and headaches about an hour after taking them, this lasted for about 4-5days but the headaches are now gone and not so much of the mucus now.

How much of a benefit I do not know but I way in tomorrow so I will see then but I have not been able to exercise much due to the sore heads so I am not expecting miracles. I will update to any weight lost!!!!!

I get my green tea capsules at Kroger or Walgreen's. I think the main thing to look for is the potency. I've looked at expensive brands like Mega T but the potency is about the same. Plus, stores like that typically have specials like buy one get one free.
