I have gone 4 days now with no sugar or flour foods. No sweets or snack foods, no bread, potatos or pasta, I did eat brown rice. I've lost several pounds and I feel really good. I thought it would be a lot harder than it's been. I have been hungry but I haven't craved sugar or flour specifcally. I started this Monday and had planned to make it through just one day, imagine my suprise and delight when I made it and am still doing it.

I did this for a month or so. It is AWESOME, and I lost a lot of weight on it, but it's too hard to do it right now with hardly any money. I was following Dr. Gott's No Sugar, No Flour diet.
  • Interesting. I think that it can be helpful for a lot of people.
But it wasn't for me. I quit eating all flour/gluten products and dairy for six months while nursing my daughter because she was allergic to both. I found that eating a diet of strictly vegetables, fruit and meats did nothing necessarily overtly positive for me. I didn't gain a lot of weight..I didn't lose a lot. I would almost consider it an inert change in my diet.

I guess I'm doing a modified version of that. I eat very little gluten, no refined sugar and no dairy. I eat the occasional piece of whole wheat toast maybe once a week. However I am eating potatoes. I must say I feel really good. My energy level has increased as well as my er, um.... output. It is a challenge, especially when you are broke but I'm going to stick with it as long as possible.

I haven't gone totally non sugar because some things, like my yogurt have natural sugars in them. I've also used condiments that have sugar in them, however I am trying to avoid as many processed foods as possible. I have to say that my mind feels clearer and I feel more alert and energetic. Enough so that I'm willing to stay on this path and to try to learn more about it. I appreciate the responses, Mrs. McFadden I think you made a good point, this is probably not for everyone. I have tried so many things and still have gained weight and am now thinking that additives and preservitives might have something to do with that. Anyone who has tried this way of life or has any suggestions for food ideas please let me know.
