Hi, I am Barb. I really enjoy tracking my food to know REALLY what I am eating and how much. Wow, it does not take long to reach your caloric intake. If anyone has some good ideas for snacks that I can try as well as introduce to my children. They are stuck on cookies, chips, and candy. I want to learn so I can teach them as well. Thanks in advance for sharing and for your support!! God Bless,
Barb

Welcome and you are so right- the calories add up so fast. It made me realize how much I was really taking in each day with mindless eating. Now when I want to binge I remember the word FLAB. Frustrated-Lonely-Anxious-Bored----if I am one of them - I take a walk and do something. If you get to understand your driggers you wil avoid them to help you as you say get ready for the the new me....

    Again Welcome

    Again Welcome

I LOVE the idea of F.L.A.B. (I had to write it like that because if I said that I love flab people would think I was strange).
  • My new favorite snack is Rold Gold Honey Wheat Braided Twists Pretzels. I usually buy it at walmart but my friend who is also watching her weight told me she gets two big packs at BJs for a good price.

Your kids might enjoy it. I find it to be yummy and certainly don't feel guilty munching on a few every now and again.

Hope these are a winner for you and your family :)

    All the best!!

Welcome, Barb! What I am continually amazed at is portion size. I once read that almonds were good for you so I went to Sam's Club and bought the industrial sized box of almonds. They were a fantastic snack, until I got out of the car and took them in the house and measured out a serving size. I had eaten about 5 servings on my way home from the store. I have found that, whatever I decide to snack on, measuring out portions before I get to the snacking is a lot better than trying to stay within a portion size when I'm just munching. I'm sorry, I guess that little rant didn't exactly answer your question. I would just suggest that you really watch portions size, it's a lot easier to control calories when you control portions. Also, I recently purchased a Hungry Girl Cookbook. She has a lot of snack and meal ideas that are scaled way back as far as calories go. I have kids who love to bake (something that they inherited from me, unfortunately) and it is easier for me to help them bake some of her lower calorie treats than it is for me to resist the full calorie alternative.

Hi Barb! I also find it fun to track my calories. I love seeing what is going into my body and how it affects my weight (I should say, I love seeing how it affects my weight AS LONG AS my weight goes down) :-)

Welcome aboard and good luck on your journey!!!
  • when I first joined I was shocked too. I love Pop Tarts but just not worth the calories. I always have mini carrots and grape tomatoes on hand to munch. I think the biggest lesson I had to learn was to read labels. Some snacks are fine if you pay attention to portion and actually count out and then PUT THE BAG AWAY! I also like those 100 calorie packs. It is hard though with kids around...
