Dreamfields Pasta

I just purchased a box of dreamfields pasta without looking at the carb amount on the box.
I just entered it to a recipe for Mac and Cheese I had in my recipe box and it has the same carbs
as my other pasta. What are they talking about on the box when they say 5 carbs when a serving
say's 41?

is it super high in fiber? fiber counts as a carb although it is not digested and doesnt work like other carbs0

It doesn't actually say 5 calories on the box .... it says "5g of digestible carbs per serving"
Carbs are not calories.0 -
labels can be very decieving. as a new diabetic i'm learning to study labels. sometimes it could kill one's appetite.0

41 total carbs - 36 fiber (complex carbs) = 5 carbs (simple)0

so when I add it, it's only 5 carbs. For real? I just can't believe it. You know the saying "if it sounds to good to be true it usually isn't"!0

I always count ALL of the carbs in my dreamfields pasta. If it works out to be less somehow, then cool. But as far as logging is concerned, I count the full carbs.0

They actually only have 5 grams of fiber, but they claim that the the other 31 grams of carbs are "protected" and does not get digested as carbs. Therefore, you digest the serving as if it only has 5 grams of carbs. I sometimes wonder about if it's too good to be true.0

I just emailed Dreamfields and asked them to explain it to me. I'll let you know what they say.0

Are low-glycemic carbs counted differently than regular carbs when calculating for insulin dose?I just purchased a box of dreamfields pasta without looking at the carb amount on the box.

Generally in carbohydrate counting (whether or not an insulin dose is calculated) a carb is counted as a carb, regardless of it's glycemic index. With that said, individuals that monitor glycemic index, choosing foods/beverages with a lower glycemic index more often, may succeed in fine tuning blood glucose (blood glucose) control.
Everyone who entered Dreamfields Pasta in foods and put a serving as only 5g of carbs per serving is incorrect. A carb is a Carb and should be counted as so according to Dreamfields website. It does not cause as much of a spike in bloodsugar as other pasta but is still the same carb. Disappointing, I was hoping too!0
