So I started this entire process at 199 lbs (after two babies 14 months apart) and am now down to 135.2 and in a healthy range for my bmi for the first time in over 2 years. I should be happy with my progress, but I'm finding that my brain hasn't caught up with my body yet. I don't see progress in the mirror bc I still see my imperfections. And many people tell me how great I look but I can't see it.
Has anyone lost a decent amount of weight and still felt just as uncomfortable as before? And if so, when did your brain catch up? I have 5 lbs to go to get to my goal weight of 130 and I don't foresee myself feeling better. Is it a woman thing where we constantly over analyze ourselves? Bc my husband has no clue what I'm talking about. Lol. He thinks I should be jumping over the moon.....but I can't!

My brain hasn't caught up, either...and I've 5 pounds left, too.... but I feel better, and have more energy. I just still see myself fat.0

It took me about 6 months to 'catch up' with what I really looked like as I lost weight. Pictures help too. If you haven't already done it, have someone take some shots of you wearing very form fitting, flattering clothes that you feel good in. It will happen, just keep doing what you know works, eating right and being active.0

have you looked at side by side pictures? a before and an after? force yourself to see the new you!0

Same here, I have lost nearly 40 lbs., but I still "see" my fat belly. Everyone tells me I look great and sometimes I see it and sometimes I don't. I also want to lose 5 more pounds, I hope I feel better when I get there.0

I used to feel that way, and still do to an extent. It took me an extra 2.5 months to really transform my body to my liking. I think if you focus more on building muscle and staying around your bmr, you'll get more definition and I assume that is what you are actually looking for.0

It makes me feel better that y'all have gone through the same thing. I've seen the before and after, bought new clothes, etc. I'm just not mentally there yet. I def wanna tone up but I'm afraid my belly is here to stay ( 2 c-sections). I'm going to continue to focus on my goal and try to start toning. Hopefully along the way my brain will catch up! Thanks everyone for sharing with me. It helps to know I'm not the only one.0

I still see myself as that 324 lbs chic everytime I look in the mirror. Even though I've lost almost a 100 lbs. I don't know when I brain catches up with our bodies but I hope it will be soon.0

I think when you are used to what you have looked at, and then you progress you are not used to compliments because you have heard insults so many times. But your progress proves that you are doing great, and you need to embrace your new body because you worked darn hard at it. Face that mirror and say > "I AM FABULOUS, AND I EMBRACE IT"!0

This isn't something I experienced, but my mom did. She lost 150 lbs and just kept thinking she was fat. It took her probably 6 months or more to get her brain to catch up to her body. I kept making her look at pictures side by side and that seemed to help. Just try to work on loving yourself regardless of what you see in the mirror. Your body does amazing things for you. Be proud and loving towards it0

Thats me! STILL not happy....30 pounds lost or more since I'm not exactly sure where I started. Could be 40 pounds... ALL I see lately is saggy skin....still the cellulite on my inner thighs....my big fat arms. still see the spare tire in the middle.
AND MOST of all, all I can see is that NUMBER on the scale screaming 153! Thats not what I want to be, no matter how little I eat or how much I exercise that number refuses to change.
btw...YOU LOOK GREAT! Maybe you can drop some helpful hints to let me know how you pushed through the plateaus!0 -
I think everyone goes through that at one time or another. I haven't lost nearly as much. I've only lost about 10lbs so far, but everyone that sees me says they can tell. I'm just not seeing it. I still see the same 197lb girl in the mirror. My pants are a bit more loose and some shirts firt a bit better, but for some reason it doesnt hit me. It will, just keep telling yourself you are gorgeous!0
