Omega 3 fatty acids are what is in the capsules, you get that from fish oil and certain veggies as well as egg whites. They help promote healthy fats in the body and in turn get rid of the unhealthy ones. Being from a fishing culture we used to eat a lot of fish and usually got it naturally but now I take supplements as well since my wife hates the fish smell and I can not get any really fresh fish here like back home. If he east cod (great source) you can make these into a healthier battered fillet, or salmon and egg whites as well he can get the same amounts of omega 3s.0

they are not known for weight loss, however is you cholesterol is high it is great for changing the ratio of bad to good cholesterol0

1000mg -- take one pill a day.... if you get "fishy burps" put the capsules in the freezer and voila, no more fishy burps.0

fish oil supplements are also recommended for heart and brain health.
Omega 3 is an essential fatty acid, which means is cannot be manufactured by our own body and therefore must be obtained through our diet alone.
Omega 3 fatty acids are recommended by doctors because they:
- lower blood triglyceride levels
- reduce the risk of heart attack
- reduce the risk of dangerous abnormal heart rhythms
- reduce the risk of strokes
- slow the buildup of atherosclerotic plaques
- lower blood pressure
- reduce stiffness and joint tenderness associated with Rheumatoid arthritis
And because they do these things, they are also recommended to improve brain, joint, and circulation conditions, including:
- Alzheimer's disease and dementia
- depression
- heart disease
- cancer
- arthritis
- diabetes
- hyperactivity
- ADHD
But they are not associated with weight loss-- except indirectly in patients that have difficulty exercising because of joint pain or other conditions above.0 -

Obviously you can find a study to support pretty much anything, but this one shows that Omega-3's may play a role in weight loss:

In Jillian Michael's book Making the Cut, she talks about it aiding in weight loss.0

If he won't take them and you are trying to add in omega3's then I know that you can by flax oil from most health food stores and you can add this on food. I don't recommended cooking with it, but you can add it after. Just don't go overboard lol0
