Egg Beaters
Going to the grocery store in a little bit. I have a recipe (fried rice) that calls for Egg Beaters. This will be the first time I have cooked with Egg Beaters...does anyone have any other EASY recipes for Egg Beaters? Any easy frittatas, etc? I hate to buy it for just one recipe!

I put half a cup in a mug and microwave it for a minute and a half. Makes a quick scrambled egg. Plus it comes out perfectly shapped to go on a 100 cal english muffin or thomas bagel thin.
I have also added a laughing cow cheese in the cup with it. Yummy!0 -
Just use egg whites. Same thing without all of the preservatives and addatives!0

use it just like eggs, if you dont want to spend the $3.99 for a little thing of it, just use the egg whites of regular eggs.. Egg beaters is like 99% egg whites.0

Room-mate here appears to swear by egg beaters, yet we go through 3 dozen real eggs every 2 weeks.
Personally I use whole-eggs where eggs are called for. The more natural an item is the better, so I'll use whole eggs from the shell rather than from a milk style carton.0 -
Egg beaters cook up and taste just like eggs, so any recipe that you would add eggs to can be substituted with egg beaters. I also have found that there are a lot of recipes that call for egg whites only and so instead of wasting all of the yolks, I started buying containers of liquid egg whites (founf next to the egg beaters). I love to add a little sauteed onion and mushroom and make quick egg white omelets or scrambles.0

They're not as bad as you might think. The thing about eggs is that a lot of the nutritional value is in the yolk. Egg beaters are essentially egg whites which are fortified with vitamins and beta carotene to make up for the lack of yolk. They don't contain anything too vile. That said, I personally got sick of paying up for them so now I just do all whites + 1 yolk.0 -

If you want great low-cal recipes, check out Hungry Girl (www.hungry-girl.com).... she LOVES egg beaters. You can sign up for a weekly e-newsletter with new products and recipes. If you're cooking for your family, you have to do some calculating, cause alot of them are for 1-2 servings, but still great stuff.0
